Do you want to be a part of pioneering quantum computing in a world-class quantum ecosystem in the heart of Copenhagen? Quantum Foundry Copenhagen is a newly founded company, owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF), aimed at developing next generation quantum computing processor technologies.
Our mission is to establish a foundry capable of manufacturing quantum processor units (QPUs) employing novel methods to meet the extreme requirements for purity and precision needed to bring quantum computing to scale.
About us
Our company is part of a vibrant and growing Danish quantum ecosystem, and we collaborate closely with world-leading researchers at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP www.nqcp.ku.dk) based at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. NQCP is designed to facilitate and drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing materials and quantum processor technologies through solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications.
In close collaboration with NQCP and international partners, we aim to pioneer chip-based fabrication and packaging methods for state-of-the-art quantum processors.
Join our team
In this role, you will work at the intersection of materials science, fabrication, and quantum engineering - contributing directly to the advancement of quantum circuits and related components. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners, play a central role in multiple research and development projects, and ensure high‑quality process execution through advanced characterization, documentation, and data‑driven methodologies.
Additional key responsibilities and tasks may include:
- Develop wafer‑scale crystal growth processes using advanced deposition and characterization tools, with a strong focus on quantum circuits and related components.
- Participate in multiple R&D projects and provide regular updates on epitaxy processes and materials characterization to QF and NQCP stakeholders via Teams or project meetings.
- Establish and perform in‑line inspection workflows using tools such as XRD, SEM, AFM, and Sensofar for rapid materials development.
- Act as an expert in advanced crystal growth and fabrication processes for quantum chip manufacturing, collaborating with tool development teams to ensure alignment between process requirements and tool specifications.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including process flows, experimental results, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Support the process development team in implementing data‑driven methodologies to enable continuous improvement and optimization.
Professional and personal qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a collaborative and communicative team player, who thrives in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment. You are adaptable and curious by nature, with the ability to quickly learn and apply new techniques as our work and technologies evolve.
Your qualifications and experience may include:
- Master’s or PhD in material science
- + 2 years of experience with experimental material science
- Advanced knowledge of epitaxy processes
- Broad knowledge of materials characterization and nanofabrication
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in problem-solving
- Able to implement and improve standards for systems engineering and data logging/analysis concepts.
