This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to our Director of RCM Account Management.
Revenue Cycle Oversight & Performance Management
- Monitor and analyze key revenue cycle metrics such as Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), denial rates, A/R aging, and net collections to ensure operational targets are met.
- Proactively identify trends, root causes, and opportunities to improve revenue capture and reduce delays in the billing cycle.
- Support accurate and timely execution of all RCM activities, including charge entry, claims submission, payment posting, and A/R follow-up.
- Collaborate with RCM Specialists and offshore team members to troubleshoot issues and maintain optimal workflow execution.
Operational Coordination & Issue Resolution
- Act as an internal escalation point for complex billing, coding, and payer-related issues, resolving them in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Investigate operational bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround times.
- Support the RCM Account Manager by providing internal performance insights that contribute to broader client strategy and retention efforts.
Workflow Optimization & Compliance
- Contribute to the development and refinement of RCM workflows and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Ensure all processes adhere to regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, CMS guidelines, and payer-specific policies.
- Identify opportunities for automation, system improvements, and process enhancements to streamline revenue cycle functions.
Team Support & Reporting
- Mentor and support RCM Specialists by guiding day-to-day activities, answering technical questions, and helping prioritize tasks.
- Assist in training new team members and ensuring consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Generate and interpret operational reports to highlight performance trends, identify gaps, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Regularly report operational findings and suggestions to the RCM Account Manager to inform client-facing discussions and strategic planning.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in medical billing, collections, or revenue cycle operations; prior experience in a lead or supervisory capacity strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to analyze and act on revenue cycle data to improve performance metrics such as DSO, denial rate, and net collections.
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior RCM team members, with a demonstrated ability to delegate tasks and monitor execution.
- Familiarity with additional EHR and practice management systems is a plus (e.g., eCW, NextGen, Nextech, ModMed, Epic, Athena, AdvancedMD, Allscripts, etc.).
- Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
- Strong understanding of insurance guidelines, EOBs, and remittance advice
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds at times.
The salary range for this position is: $45,000 - $55,000. Compensation for this role is based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws. The expected salary range for this position reflects these considerations and may vary accordingly.
