The Reuse & Refill Principal Analyst will play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable packaging initiatives, focusing on the transition from single-use to reusable and refillable systems. This role combines technical expertise, strategic planning, and cross-sector collaboration to drive impactful reuse/refill solutions across multiple states. You will lead modeling and analytics efforts, guide investment and funding decisions, and support innovative programs that promote environmental sustainability. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, this position requires a proactive, analytical, and influential professional to shape the future of circular packaging solutions.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development, management, and enhancement of reuse/refill models and roadmaps to support strategic scenario planning and investment decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for scalable reuse/refill solutions and quantify infrastructure, funding, and community engagement requirements to meet regulatory goals.
  • Collaborate with state teams and external partners to evaluate producer agreements, supply chain capabilities, and benchmark data, integrating insights into future strategies.
  • Oversee the creation, issuance, and assessment of RFIs/RFPs in B2B and B2C packaging, establishing KPIs, data reporting frameworks, and impact measurement.
  • Provide technical guidance on reuse/refill definitions, measurements, and reporting to producers and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with trade associations, NGOs, local governments, startups, and innovators in the reuse/refill ecosystem.
  • Facilitate cross-sector packaging committees and lead grant and innovation fund programs to accelerate the adoption of reusable packaging systems.
  • Stay current on reuse/refill innovations, regulations, and emerging best practices while representing the organization at conferences and public consultations.
  • Requirements:
  • Proven experience in modeling, analytics, and reporting for reusable food service ware, transport packaging, or other reusable/refillable systems.
  • Expertise in enabling sustainable reuse/refill business models to be cost-competitive and self-sustaining.
  • Experience in program commercialization, implementation, or management of reuse/refill initiatives.
  • Strong partnership-building skills to collaborate across public-private sectors and supply chains.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of simplifying complex concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Sustainability, Operations/Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in sustainability, waste management, operations, recycling, or reverse logistics.
