Sales Engineer – Service (Transformer)
Department: Transformer Service Department
Location:
Pune, Mumbai (Thane), West (Gujarat), Nagpur, Entire South India, Entire North India (e.g., Delhi / Rajasthan)
Reporting To:
Service Sales Manager / Head – Service Department
Qualification
Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
MBA (Sales / Marketing) – Preferred (not mandatory)
Experience
5–8 years of experience in Transformer Service Sales or Industrial Electrical Service Sales

Proven experience in selling transformer-related services, including:
Overhauling & refurbishment
Oil filtration & dehydration
Breakdown & preventive maintenance
Testing & diagnostics
AMC / PMC contracts
Commissioning & installation services
Experience working with industrial clients, utilities, EPCs, OEMs, and government organizations
Key Skills Required
Strong technical and commercial understanding of Power & Distribution Transformers
Knowledge of transformer failure modes, service processes, and customer pain points
Ability to generate leads, develop new regions, and grow service business
Strong negotiation, presentation, and customer-handling skills
Experience with tendering, BOQ evaluation, costing, and proposal preparation
Ability to prepare techno-commercial offers and service scope documents
Willingness to work independently across regions with frequent travel
Good communication, follow-up, and closing skills
Proficiency in MS Office, CRM tools, and business reporting
Roles & Responsibilities
Manage sales of transformer service offerings within assigned regions
Identify and develop new customers across industries, utilities, EPCs, and OEMs

Promote services such as:
Transformer repair & refurbishment
Installation & commissioning
Oil filtration & diagnostics
AMC / PMC maintenance contracts
Condition monitoring & testing
Conduct site visits to assess customer requirements and provide technical guidance
Prepare quotations, technical proposals, and service scope documents
Follow up on proposals, negotiate commercial terms, and close orders
Coordinate with service execution teams for smooth job completion
Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure high satisfaction
Track sales pipeline, MIS reports, forecasts, and order bookings
Perform competitor analysis and recommend pricing strategies
Support marketing initiatives like presentations, service seminars, and exhibitions
Ensure timely payment collection and closure of service jobs
Travel extensively across assigned territories as required
Technical Expertise (Preferred)
Knowledge of transformer testing parameters: IR, PI, WR, Ratio, Tan Delta, BDV, etc.
Basic understanding of OLTCs, bushings, windings, core, and insulation systems
Ability to interpret transformer ratings, drawings, and service reports
Familiarity with transformer service equipment, testing methods, and refurbishment processes
Qualifications
BE in electrical or equivalent
