Senior Credit Controller – New Year, New Career Move!
Reporting to the National Credit Manager, this is a pivotal role where you’ll own and drive the performance of a busy and diverse credit ledger. You’ll combine strong relationship management with solid credit control expertise to protect and enhance WM’s financial health.
You’ll work closely with both internal and external customers, using your negotiation skills, attention to detail, and problem‑solving ability to drive successful debt recovery, reduce risk and strengthen financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a large, varied portfolio including credit assessments, debt recovery, reconciliations and payment allocation
- Meet monthly collection targets and drive continuous improvement in credit processes
- Maintain proactive customer communication to resolve queries and negotiate repayment plans
- Run daily, weekly and monthly reports and conduct credit checks to assess credit risk
- Collaborate with branches and internal teams to resolve escalations promptly
- Train, coach and support team members; maintain credit training material
- Oversee documentation relating to liquidated and bad debt customers
- Support the credit team with general and ad hoc duties
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- 5+ years’ experience in credit control, ideally with key or large customers
- Demonstrated ability to improve or streamline collection processes
- Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent time management and the ability to handle a busy workload
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems (JDE highly desirable)
