At Tiger Data, formerly Timescale, we empower developers and businesses with the fastest PostgreSQL platform designed for transactional, analytical, and agentic workloads. Trusted globally by thousands of organizations, Tiger accelerates real-time insights, drives intelligent applications, and powers critical infrastructure at scale. As a globally distributed, remote-first team committed to direct communication, accountability, and collaborative excellence, we're shaping the future of data infrastructure, built for speed, flexibility, and simplicity.
Senior Developer Advocate (Agentic Postgres)
You're a builder who codes with agents every day. You know the difference between Claude Code and Cursor because you live in these tools. You ship demos fast and messy because you understand compound effects matter more than polish. And you get why agents need infrastructure built for them—MCP servers that self-describe, databases that fork in seconds, hybrid search that doesn't require a Frankenstack.
We're building community around "agents are the new developers" before it's crowded. That means weekly SF meetups, daily demos on social, a recipe library of one-shot prompts, and teaching developers how to actually build with agentic tools—not just talk about them.
Reporting to the Head of Developer Advocacy, you'll work directly with our CEO and co-founder to help shape both the product and positioning. This isn't generic DevRel. This is a company-defining role where your voice influences the roadmap, your demos shape developer perception, and your community-building creates the flywheel for Agentic Postgres adoption.
📍 Location requirement: Bay Area — you'll co-host weekly "Agents & Coffee" meetups in SF, give talks at SF meetups weekly, and rep TigerData at conferences globally.
What you'll actually be doing:
Daily demos: Build recipes in Claude Code/Cursor showing what's possible with Agentic Postgres (MCP integration, zero-copy forks, hybrid search). Record them. Ship them. Iterate based on what lands.
Weekly in-person events: Co-host "Agents & Coffee" meetups in SF, give technical talks at Bay Area (and other) meetups. Create energy in rooms, debug live, make Tiger Data the place where people building with agents gather.
Build the recipe library: Own our collection of one-shot prompts and demos. Seed it, get the community contributing, surface the best ones. This is your baby.
Strategic influence: Partner with CEO and founders on positioning—how do we talk about agents as database users? What features do agentic workflows need? You'll influence what we build and how we talk about it.
Technical content: Blogs, videos, workshops that teach the architecture—how MCP works, why tool calling matters, when agents need sandboxed forks. You're explaining the how and the why.
Community voice: Help manage our community presence, surface insights back to product and engineering, be the bridge between developers building with agents and our internal teams.
You could be a great fit if you:
Use agentic coding tools daily. Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot—you don't just know about them, you build with them. You can explain tool calling, MCP, and how agents connect to systems.
Ship fast and scrappy. You're comfortable with daily demos that aren't perfect. You know the difference between "good enough to ship" and "will never ship."
Have built community from scratch. You've launched a meetup, energized a subreddit, or created momentum around a new idea without a playbook or big budget.
Thrive in person. You light up on stage, at meetups, at hackathons. You can adapt on the fly, handle logistics, and create energy in a room.
Code comfortably in Python, Go, or JavaScript (and ideally SQL/Postgres). You can build the demos you dream up.
Believe agents are the new developers and want to help define what infrastructure for them looks like. This isn't academic—you see it happening.
Have 5+ years in developer advocacy or engineering - and have participated in communities.
Want strategic influence. You're excited to co-write the playbook with leadership, not just execute someone else's.
You might not be a great fit if:
You've "tried" AI coding tools but don't actively use them in your workflow.
You need everything polished before shipping—we move fast, learn in public, iterate based on feedback.
You prefer behind-the-scenes work over being a visible, opinionated voice.
You're skeptical that "agents are the new developers" is a real paradigm shift.
You want a rigid playbook instead of helping define the category.
Our Commitment:
