The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer at Bland, you'll be instrumental in building out the next stage of what AI phone agents will be capable of. You'll work across our stack to develop robust, scalable solutions that enable enterprises to create and deploy sophisticated voice AI agents. Your technical expertise will directly impact our platform's capabilities, reliability, and performance as we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in conversational AI.
What You'll Do
Architect and Build Core Systems: Design and develop key components of our voice AI platform, ensuring they're scalable, maintainable, and perform exceptionally well under high call volumes.
Lead Technical Integrations: Create flexible API solutions that allow our platform to seamlessly integrate with customers' existing systems, databases, and telephony infrastructure.
Optimize Machine Learning Pipelines: Collaborate with our AI team to implement and improve the infrastructure supporting our voice models, ensuring fast, reliable performance.
Drive Engineering Excellence: Contribute to technical standards, code review processes, and best practices that elevate our engineering culture.
Support Customer Deployments: Work closely with Deployment Owners to understand customer requirements and develop technical solutions that meet their specific business needs.
Solve Complex Technical Challenges: Tackle difficult problems in areas such as real-time audio processing, natural language understanding, and distributed systems.
What Makes You a Great Fit
You have 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally full stack.
You've designed and built software from 0-1, and 1-2.
You have experience working at a quickly growing start-up.
You have 2+ years of experience working on AI applications
Bonus Points If You Have
Experience with telephony systems, VoIP, or WebRTC
Background in natural language processing, speech recognition, or conversational AI
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies
Experience building real-time, high-throughput systems
Prior work on AI/ML infrastructure or production ML systems
