Support to Lead I&C Engineer

  • Support the Lead I&C Engineer in all instrumentation and control engineering activities under the Owner’s Engineer function

  • Provide daily technical support for I&C design, review, and coordination activities

  • Perform first-pass checks of EPC deliverables prior to Lead Engineer review

  • Maintain discipline logs including Instrument Index, I/O List Tracker, Cause & Effect comment log, Technical Query register, and Vendor Interface register

Review Support for EPC I&C Deliverables

  • Assist in technical review and preparation of comments for EPC submissions including:

    • Instrument Index and Datasheets

    • Hook-up Drawings

    • Loop Drawings

    • I/O Lists and Termination Schedules

    • Cable Block Diagrams

    • Panel Internal Layouts (PLC/Relay Panels)

    • Instrument Location Layouts

    • Cause & Effect Diagrams

    • Alarm and Trip Logic Drawings

    • Control Philosophy documents

  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, incorrect tag numbers, missing instruments, and deviations from ADNOC standard.

Package Instrumentation Support (Compressors, Dryers, Receiver Units)

  • Review OEM instrumentation datasheets for transmitters, pressure switches, dew point meters, flow switches, RTDs, and related instruments

  • Assist in validating I/O requirements and panel wiring diagrams

  • Support comparison between EPC and OEM logic diagrams

  • Verify signal types (AI, AO, DI, DO) and communication protocols (Modbus, hardwired, etc.)

  • Provide consolidated technical comments for Lead Engineer approval

Control Logic and Shutdown System Support

  • Support the Lead Engineer in control logic and shutdown system reviews

  • Cross-check EPC logic against OEM logic for:

    • Compressor start/stop sequences

    • Load and unload logic

    • Standby switching

    • Dryer tower switching cycles

    • IA/PA interlocks and permissives

  • Assist in preparing control narrative comment sheets

  • Validate DCS, ESD, and F&G inputs including alarms, trips, and SIF requirement

P&ID and Instrument Tagging Support

  • Ensure correct instrument tag numbering in accordance with ADNOC numbering standards

  • Verify tag consistency across P&IDs, Instrument Index, Loop Drawings, and Cause & Effect diagrams

  • Prepare and update P&ID markups based on review comments, HAZOP actions, and design change

Hazardous Area and Compliance Support

  • Assist in verifying instrument certifications including ATEX and IECEx compliance

  • Check temperature class and gas group requirements

  • Ensure correct intrinsic safety and barrier configurations

  • Review gas detector layouts around compressor and dryer skids

Participation in HSE and Safety Studies

  • Support the Lead Engineer during:

    • HAZID

    • HAZOP

    • ENVID

    • SIL/LOPA workshops

  • Extract drawings required for workshops

  • Record action items and track I&C-related close-outs

  • Update control logic and P&IDs based on study outcomes

3D Model and Field Routing Support

  • Support 3D model reviews using AVEVA E3D/PDMS and SP3D

  • Review instrument locations, junction box placement, and cable tray routing

  • Identify clashes, access issues, and maintenance clearance problems

  • Prepare viewpoint snapshots and markup sheets in line with ADNOC design requirement

Vendor Interface and Coordination

  • Assist the Lead I&C Engineer in coordination with:

    • Compressor OEMs

    • Dryer OEMs

    • Receiver Fabricators

    • DCS/ESD/F&G system vendors (ABB, Honeywell, Emerson, Yokogawa, Rockwell)

    • EPC I&C teams

  • Track vendor document submissions and approvals

  • Prepare interface comparison sheets

  • Coordinate technical clarifications and Technical Queries (TQs)

Construction and Pre-Commissioning Support

  • Support I&C activities during construction and mechanical completion phases

  • Review instrument installation method statements

  • Verify cable routing, junction box installations, and termination drawings

  • Assist in FAT, SAT, and loop check activities

  • Verify calibration certificates and test reports

  • Support pre-commissioning logic tests, alarm verification, and IA/PA logic switchin

As-Built Documentation Support

  • Maintain red-line markups for all I&C drawings during construction

  • Assist in validating EPC as-built documentation prior to final acceptance

  • Ensure documentation consistency and compliance with ADNOC standards

Documentation, Compliance, and Reporting

  • Prepare and update:

    • Instrument datasheets

    • I/O lists

    • Cable schedules

    • Hook-up drawings

    • Loop diagrams

    • Control system documentation

  • Maintain document revisions and submissions through Aconex or EDMS

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, ADNOC standards, IEC codes, and OEM requirements

  • Assist in preparing TQs, RFIs, vendor document comments, and weekly progress reports

  • Support HAZOP and SIL action close-outs, commissioning checklists, loop folders, and final as-built documentation

  • Coordinate with Electrical, Process, Mechanical, and DCS teams to maintain accurate interface and deliverable registers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent.

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in instrumentation design within the oil & gas sector (onshore/offshore).

  • Proficiency in software tools such as SPI (INtools), AutoCAD, and 3D model review tools (e.g., Navisworks).

  • Familiar with industry standards and best practices.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
