A bit about the role…
Reporting to the Head of Colleague Communications, the Senior Internal Communications Manager works as an integral part of the colleague communications team, the wider Communications and Events team, developing and delivering internal communications programmes and plans that support Allwyn’s vision: to change lives every day – and our mission: to grow the National Lottery responsibly and champion its impact. You will play a key role in engaging with colleagues to drive delivery of our Annual Business Plans, including its commercial targets, and to create a culture that’s aligned to our values, making Allwyn a great place to work.
What you’ll be doing…
- Drive colleague behaviour and engagement to support delivery of the transformation of The National Lottery, in line with Allwyn’s strategy, mission, vision, values and Annual Business Plans, by:
- Building trust between Allwyn’s leadership team, managers and colleagues using best practice, two-way communications
- Leading on development and delivery of colleague communications programmes, campaigns and plans, aligned to the annual colleague communications strategy and reflecting the requirements of the business and its teams;
- Leading on content creation and communication for business-wide events, including town halls, All Ins, celebrations and annual parties;
- Creating and managing compelling best-practice content across all internal communications channels, including leadership communications, colleague stories, recognition, operational updates, organisation announcements, change communications and transformation narratives;
- In partnership with the Colleague Experience & Engagement Lead, delivering communications activity relating to cultural, Allwyn Communities’ and engagement activities;
- Collating measurement of the team’s colleague communications activity, ensuring that the team uses data and insights to implement continuous communications improvement, aligned to Communications and Events Team KPIs
- Manage the editorial and sign-off process for all colleague communications content and manage the content calendar;
- Build strong relationships with key functions including People and Places, Strategy and Transformation, Retail and Digital, and their customer-facing teams, acting as a trusted adviser on all colleague communications;
- Create a community of ‘empfluencers’ across Allwyn UK and drive their engagement with external social media channels and advocacy for Allwyn’s UK mission, vision and values;
- Work with colleagues across the Communications and Events team and the Chief Impact Officer’s broader team and our external agencies to shape engagement content for our external channels to support our employer brand and EVP;
- Work closely with colleagues across the Communications and Events team, the Chief Impact Officer’s broader team and the Allwyn Group Communications team to support a joined-up approach to content and communications into the UK, including managing effective sequencing and ensuring consistent and relevant messaging;
- Work in close partnership with the Business Continuity team when the BC process is activated, ensuring colleagues are engaged and informed to promote safety and return to operational continuity;
- Stay ahead of new developments and implement best practice in internal communications to ensure that channels and contents activate, engage and entertain colleagues (Fast, Accessible, Social and Timely);
- Deputise for the Head of Colleague Communications in their absence, working with the Comms Department Senior Leadership Team, managing Colleague Communications team budgets and supplier relationships, and maintaining stakeholder engagement, overseeing delivery of Colleague Communications activity to agreed plans.
What experience we’re looking for…
- Strong relationship and stakeholder management abilities, with expertise in influencing at all levels of the organisation by providing compelling advice;
- Experience in dealing with ambiguity, conflicting agendas and changing priorities, and providing a responsive and consistent approach to stakeholders;
- Experience in embracing, leading and driving change across a complex environment;
- Ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive information and use persuasion, influencing and negotiation skills with senior leaders, individuals and groups;
- Demonstrated excellence in developing and agreeing communications programmes, campaigns, plans and events, including agency and supplier management, to engage colleagues and support the delivery of business strategies, plans and objectives;
- Experience of excellence in content creation and delivery across a range of internal communications channels, deploying a range of tools and techniques;
- Ability to work effectively as a senior member of a communications and events team, as well as delivering work independently as required;
- Implementation of emerging best-practice to improve colleague communications, based on trends, data and insights;
- Willing to work on site, three days per week.
