We are looking for Spine & Nerve Medical Coders with hands-on experience in E/M coding for pain management/neurology/orthopaedics/PM&R workflows, along with procedural coding for EMG, NCS, and spine injections. You will code from provider documentation, ensure coding accuracy and compliance, and support clean claim submission to improve first-pass yield and reduce denials.
E/M Coding (Spine & Nerve visits)
Assign accurate E/M codes for new/established patient encounters based on documentation and payer guidelines (including time- or MDM-based selection where applicable).
Validate documentation supports medical necessity, history/exam elements when required, and appropriate diagnosis linkages.
EMG & NCS (Electrodiagnostic studies)
Code EMG/NCS procedures accurately based on documentation (e.g., number of nerves/muscles studied, laterality, interpretation/report requirements).
Ensure correct bundling/unbundling and appropriate modifier use as per payer rules and edits.
Spine injections / interventional procedures
Code spine injection procedures based on approach and documentation (e.g., epidural steroid injections, facet/medial branch blocks, RFA support coding if applicable).
Capture and link supporting details: level(s), laterality, imaging guidance, supplies/units (as applicable), and diagnosis justification.
Proven experience coding Spine & Nerve / Pain Management / Neurology / Ortho / PM&R cases in an RCM environment.
Strong practical experience in:
E/M coding for speciality outpatient visits
EMG & NCS procedure coding
Spine injection procedure coding
Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, modifiers, and medical necessity documentation.
Strong attention to detail, ability to interpret clinical documentation, and willingness to ask clarifying questions.
