Position title: Senior Network Administrator (Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital)
Location: 5000 South 5th Avenue Hines, IL 60141
Salary Range Target: $100,000-$115,000
Duration: Funded through 01/2027
NOTE: Travel will typically be for 1-4 weeks at a time. Travel is in support of the VA's EHR deployment and training requirements. This position requires frequent travel by vehicle and must be able to drive safely and navigate a variety of routes. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Occasional air travel may also be required. When not on travel the staff member will work at the local VA doing daily helpdesk/system administrator/network onsite tasks.
As a Senior Network Administrator on our project, you'll lead network support for the VA’s EHR deployment and training project. You will be the senior SME overseeing and providing technical mentorship to staff at various sites across the country and ensuring network resolution. This role combines strong technical skills with an emphasis on delivering a high level of customer service. You will be responsible for support during installations and ongoing support for issue resolution, potential for onsite support tasks, and you will be operating with limited supervision. You will be responsible for baseband network Connectivity-Configuration, Management, Issue Resolution Internet Connectivity- Configuration, and Issue Resolution as well as Wi-Fi hardware configuration/management. Will be responsible for hardware start-up, imaging, configuration, updating, naming, break/fix, and issue resolution. In this role you will be deploying, setting up equipment, configuring, and supporting around the VA medical center campus and training facilities. May have occasional weekend hours and evening hours in support of field staff in the region.
You Have:
5+ years of experience with designing, analyzing, configuring, or troubleshooting IP networks
Experience with designing, analyzing, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting complex network architectures
Experience with Wi-Fi hardware - Configuration, Management, and Issue Resolution
Experience leading technical teams and troubleshooting multiple sites concurrently
Experience with network hardware - Install, Configuration, Management, and Issue Resolution
Experience with analyzing network traffic and determining root causes for network issues
Knowledge of routing protocols and network technologies such as Fortinet Routers
Performing regular and repetitive unpacking, moving, and installation of IT equipment weighing up to 25 pounds (or greater with additional assistance). Frequently traversing around facilities and positioning self to set up and maintain computers and connect/pull cords from under desks and in server closets.
Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to draw logical and physical network topologies using Microsoft Visio
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time and requires frequent travel by vehicle and must be able to drive safely and navigate a variety of routes. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Occasional air travel may also be required.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information System, Information Technology or Equivalent and 5 total years of experience; or 13 total years of experience in lieu of a degree
