About us:
Aeva’s mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced PCBA Test Engineer to join our test engineering team. This role sits at the intersection of DFT, debug, NPI test and high-volume ICT & FCT production test bring up for all Aeva’s product lines.
What you'll be doing:
Drive PCBA testability (DFT) from schematic review through high-volume manufacturing. Integrate test points, boundary scan, and other DFT techniques into PCB designs to enhance test coverage and fault detection. Define and enforce test access requirements: test points, boundary scan chains, probe access, isolation, and segmentation.Develop test methods using python programming used for functional and parametric test on NPI PCBA test stations developed in-house at Aeva.Define the test requirements and support the development of functional test (FCT) at CM for high volume manufacturing.Bring up new PCBA tests from first power-on to full functional validation.Isolate intermittent, marginal, and low-yield failures using systematic debug methods including debug of power integrity, clocks, resets, boot sequences, and mixed-signal paths.Correlate ICT/FCT failures with schematic intent, layout, and silicon performance.Use advanced instrumentation (scopes, logic analyzers, current probes, thermal tools) to capture elusive failures.Create debug playbooks, DFT guidelines, and failure isolation documentation.Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure on time delivery with optimum test coverage at lowest cost.Document test strategies, procedures, and results for internal reference and compliance purposes.Prepare reports to analyse and document test results, and perform SPC analysis of new test fixtures/techniques to validate or establish monitors of critical test processes.Provide end-to-end support through entire product life cycle from NPI (New Product Introduction) to high volume manufacturing.
What you'll have:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience7+ years of hands-on PCBA test, debug, and DFT experienceExpert ability to read and critique schematics and PCB layoutsDeep understanding of analog, digital, power, and mixed-signal systemsStrong practical knowledge of ICT, FCT, and boundary scan (JTAG)Proven track record of improving yield through DFT and failure analysis learningsStrong understanding of electronics, digital and analog circuits, and PCB assembly processes.Proficiency in PCB design software tools such as KiCAD, Cadence, or similar.Hands-on experience in Python programming for test automation.Experience with data analysis using tools such as JMP and dashboards.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Experience working with CMs worldwide.Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills and capable of making clear conclusions and recommendations.
