About Mariana Minerals
Mariana Minerals is not a software company selling to mining companies. We are a mining company that builds software.
We design, build, commission, and operate our own mines and refineries. We develop our own chemical processes. We're producing battery-grade lithium salts from real oil and gas wastewater in our lab and pilot facilities today. Our first commercial-scale lithium production facility, Lithium One, is targeting production in the first half of 2027.
The software — what we call MarianaOS — exists to make our projects come online faster and run better. We don't sell it. We deploy it into our own operations and measure its impact in tons of metal produced, dollars of cost removed, and months shaved off construction timelines.
Role Overview
We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to help shape the future of MarianaOS.
This role is for a strong PM who's excited about the breadth of what we're building but isn't yet sure which part of the system is the best fit. We'll figure out together through the interview process which area — PlantOS, or MineOS — is the right match for your background and interests.
The scope of what we can touch is enormous. Mining is the last major industrial sector that hasn't been rebuilt with modern software. The opportunity set isn't a feature gap on an existing product — it's entire workflows and systems that don't exist yet. The problem space spans micron-scale chemistry to kilometer-scale infrastructure.
You'll work with an unusually diverse set of stakeholders: geologists, metallurgists, chemical engineers, construction managers, plant operators, ML engineers, and software developers. These are people who understand the physics of what they're doing and can tell you exactly where the bottlenecks are. There's no translation layer between you and the domain experts. They're your direct collaborators. They'll push back on your designs with real constraints and tell you when your model is wrong and why.
This is a senior role. We're looking for someone who can operate independently, drive clarity in ambiguous situations, and own outcomes end-to-end.
The Platform: MarianaOS
MarianaOS is the digital nervous system for mineral projects. It spans the full lifecycle — from capital project execution through autonomous operations:
CapitalProjectOS is our integrated capital project execution platform. Getting a mine or refinery from concept to operation involves thousands of people across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning — all working in silos, using disconnected tools, passing information through lossy handoffs. We're building LLM-powered systems with deep domain context — not generic copilots, but agents that understand how a piping and instrumentation diagram relates to a procurement schedule and how that relates to a construction sequence. We're making it possible for smaller, more agile teams to deliver large-scale projects without the schedule and cost overruns that define this industry.
PlantOS is our autonomy platform for fixed-plant mineral processing — lithium refining, SX-EW, flotation, and beyond. It uses the same reinforcement learning toolkit powering self-driving vehicles and humanoid robots, except we're using it for autonomous control of minerals refining circuits. We're targeting a 50% compression in commissioning timelines and a 25%+ reduction in steady-state operating costs. The goal is fully autonomous refining operations with no human in the loop.
MineOS integrates geologic block models, short and long-range mine plans, fleet management systems, and industrial control systems into a single optimization layer. We're accelerating autonomous fleet deployment and building an accurate digital twin of the site to maximize the lifetime value of the mine.
These aren't separate products — they're an integrated system that treats minerals production as a single coordinated operation. Every project generates operational data that makes the software smarter, which makes the next project faster and cheaper. That's the flywheel — and it's why being vertically integrated matters.
What You'll Do
Define what to build by looking at operational performance data and talking to domain experts — including figuring out what metrics and instrumentation need to exist in the first place
Spend time at project sites, processing facilities, and mines to understand how work actually happens — prioritization here comes from deep operational knowledge, not market research
Help build the PM function: this is a small, early PM team. You'll help establish how we work, how we prioritize, and how we develop junior PMs
Ship software that runs in real operations — facilities, mines, construction sites — where the consequences are physical and the feedback is immediate
Drive clarity in ambiguous situations: break down complex problems, define scope, make tradeoffs explicit, and keep teams focused on what matters
What We're Looking For
Must Have
5-8+ years in product management, with experience in industrial, manufacturing, or heavy industry software
Intellectual curiosity about physical systems — you want to understand how the domain works, not treat it as a black box
Ability to communicate across a huge range of technical literacy — from PhD engineers and scientists to field operators with no software background
Experience leading cross-functional teams through ambiguous, complex projects
Demonstrated ability to go deep on technical domains and build credibility with engineers
Strong prioritization and tradeoff skills — you know when to say no
Nice to Have
Experience with industrial software, process control, or autonomous systems
Familiarity with ML-powered products or data-intensive systems
Track record of digital transformation work in traditional industries
Why This Role
Most senior PM roles are narrowly scoped—you own one product, one feature set, one customer segment. This role is different.
At Mariana, you'll work across a platform that spans capital project execution, mineral processing, and autonomous mining operations. You'll see software running in real facilities, making real decisions, producing real materials. You'll work on problems that matter—the critical minerals supply chain that powers EVs, grid storage, AI infrastructure, and national security.
If you're a strong PM looking for something more substantive than another enterprise SaaS product, we'd love to talk.
