🎄📅 Please note that recruitment operations, including application reviews and interviews, will be suspended from Dec 23, resuming fully on Jan 5.

We are building an AI system for analysts and scientists, based on a fundamentally new approach to reasoning and knowledge representation. We go beyond state-of-the-art LLMs by combining algorithms symbolically, to provide novel capabilities like performing multi-step analysis, displaying a verifiable reasoning path, and assessing uncertainty. We envision applications supporting and automating analysis and research in domains such as Finance and Economics, Biotechnology, Material Sciences, and more. Our current pilot users are financial analysts who build sophisticated models using Excel/programming to support investment strategies.

We are looking for a senior Product Manager to complement our Product team, driving our product strategy, researching market and user needs, developing compelling use cases, engaging pilot users and external domain experts.

PlantingSpace is an ambitious deep tech startup with a talented team and the potential for large-scale impact. In this critical role you’ll have the opportunity to grow the company with us, taking it “from lab to customers”.

Responsibilities

Synthesise the vision and value proposition of our product

  • Translate user and market research into clear product opportunity briefs, linking technology capabilities with user needs

  • Own a prioritised pipeline of use cases: research and validate them with domain experts

  • Identify, engage, and manage external experts to bring in required domain knowledge for prioritised use cases

  • Build a deep understanding of our technology, and articulate it: its longer-term potential, value proposition, and its position in the competitive landscape

Define the vision for each user journey and interaction with our system

  • Deliver and maintain a user journey map with touch-points, workflows, and pain points

  • Create prototype flows (wireframes or mockups) to test assumptions with users and domain experts

  • Maintain a validated assumptions log (what we’ve tested, with outcomes)

Own the implementation of a defined user journey and experience

  • Translate the user journey into product goals and milestone definitions

  • Collaborate with engineering on scoping goals/tasks per milestone sprint

  • Perform acceptance testing of all features impacting UX before release

  • Contribute UX proposals/prototypes

  • Own the vetting and testing of new data APIs for implementation

Turn proofs-of-concept into pilots and ongoing usage

  • Establish a regular feedback loop with pilot users

  • Maintain a feature backlog prioritised by validated user needs and feasibility

  • Communicate structured user insights to the team after each pilot phase

  • Drive continuous iteration by coordinating design + engineering to address gaps

Requirements

  • Experience and track record along the areas of responsibility as highlighted above

  • Fast learner of technical concepts – able to quickly understand sophisticated functionality and user workflows, and translate them into product directions

  • Previous success in organisations with a high bar for quality and pace

  • Strong communicator – credible with engineers, researchers, users, and investors; proven ability to communicate complex technologies to different audiences

  • Hands-on builder – not just a coordinator: willing and able to prototype, test, write

  • Proximity to target users – able to engage with demanding professional users and turn feedback into clear product priorities

Useful experience

  • Deep-tech exposure – experience working on products built from new or complex technology; all the way “from lab to customer”

  • Industry alignment – ideally experience in investment research, asset management, or quantitative finance (e.g. building valuation models or analyzing distressed situations)

  • Education – advanced degree in a technical/quantitative discipline (e.g. CS, physics, finance, economics) or equivalent experience

Required mindset

We've found that our successful team members share some key characteristics, and as we've grown our team, these are the qualities we've learned to seek out. We take pride in our strong, collaborative culture, and these core attributes not only reflect our shared values, but can help you evaluate how well you might fit into our team:

  • A strong collaborator: You communicate with clarity and purpose, ensuring your ideas and intentions are easily understood. You work efficiently, embracing an iterative approach that allows for frequent progress and course correction. You’re open to direct feedback, adapting quickly and using it to improve both your work, and the performance of those around you.

  • A builder at heart: You’re passionate about building things, solving complex problems, and approaching challenges with an entrepreneurial spirit and humility. Your sharp sense of prioritisation allows you to take one step at a time while not losing the ultimate goal out of sight.

  • Results-driven: You thrive when taking full ownership of tasks, seeing them through from start to finish, and taking accountability for the results. You’re proactive, resourceful, and avoid over-complication - anticipating problems, even in complex, uncertain environments.

  • Growth mindset: You are intellectually curious, have a critical mind, and seek opportunities to stretch your abilities. You explore the state-of-the-art, you dig deep to truly understand a problem, and question assumptions.

  • Methodical problem-solver:

    • You excel at taking a complex goal and breaking it down into manageable components, with clear dependencies.

    • You balance independent problem solving with collaborative approaches, knowing when to tackle issues yourself and when to leverage team expertise.

    • You facilitate productive problem-solving in the team to drive efficient alignment, and improve proposed solutions.

    • You create clear documentation and knowledge-sharing systems that empower the entire team
