We’re hiring a Senior Manager of SEO & GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) at MaintainX to own organic search and generative AI discovery as a critical acquisition channel. Search has fundamentally changed: buyers are increasingly finding, evaluating, and shortlisting solutions through AI-generated responses in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and other LLM-driven surfaces, often before they ever visit a website. This role is built for that reality. You will lead the strategy to win in both traditional organic search and generative AI discovery, ensuring the brand is accurately, favorably, and consistently represented wherever industrial and frontline buyers are asking questions. You will lead and mentor an SEO specialist and work cross-functionally with Content, Web, Product Marketing, and Marketing Ops to drive measurable pipeline contribution from organic and AI-generated discovery channels.
What You'll Do:
- Own and accelerate MaintainX’s GEO strategy. shaping how the brand is understood, cited, and recommended across AI platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews, Copilot).
- Architect content systems for LLM retrieval, not just ranking, creating structured, authoritative assets and information architecture that consistently win citations in AI-generated responses and outperform competitors in head-to-head queries
- Operate with a model-level understanding of AI search, using knowledge of retrieval systems, entity recognition, and citation patterns to reverse-engineer how MaintainX shows up and systematically improve it
- Hold a pipeline number, not just rankings, owning organic and AI-driven revenue contribution end-to-end, with clear accountability for traffic quality, conversion, and CAC efficiency
- Use data and experimentation to create advantage in an ambiguous space, building measurement frameworks for GEO (share-of-voice, citation frequency, sentiment) and running controlled tests that prove incremental impact
- Raise the technical and strategic bar for SEO, leading keyword and topical authority strategy while partnering deeply with Engineering on crawlability, performance, schema, and site architecture
- Build content that reflects real customer language and wins trust, working cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Sales, and Customer Marketing to translate positioning and outcomes into assets that both buyers and AI systems rely on
- Leverage modern SEO and GEO tooling as a force multiplier, including platforms like AirOps and Profound, and use AI natively in your workflows to move faster without sacrificing quality
- Lead with strong point of view and high standards, mentoring SEO & GEO specialists, managing external partners, and pushing the organization to rethink how search works in an AI-first world
About you:
- 7+ years of experience in SEO, organic growth, or search-driven pipeline generation, with clear ownership of revenue and pipeline outcomes
- Demonstrated experience with AI-driven search or Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), including optimizing for visibility in platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Google AI Overviews, or a strong track record of rapidly building expertise in this space
- Deep understanding of how LLMs retrieve and surface information, including familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), entity recognition, knowledge graphs, and citation patterns
- Proven ability to design content for both humans and machines, including structured, authoritative assets such as FAQs, comparisons, and definitions that are optimized for AI citation and answer generation
- Strong experimentation mindset in emerging channels, with experience testing new surfaces such as AI search and zero-click SERPs and translating ambiguous signals into actionable growth strategies
- Advanced analytical skills, with experience building measurement frameworks that go beyond rankings and incorporate share-of-voice, citation frequency, and AI-driven discovery metrics
- Fluency in technical SEO fundamentals, including site architecture, schema, crawlability, and Core Web Vitals, with the ability to adapt these principles to AI retrieval systems
- Experience with AEO and zero-click optimization, including featured snippets, structured data, and question-based query targeting
- Hands-on experience with modern SEO and GEO tooling, including platforms like AirOps, Profound, Semrush, Ahrefs, or similar, as well as using LLMs for content generation, query simulation, and competitive analysis
- Strong content and storytelling instincts, with the ability to translate product positioning and customer outcomes into language that AI systems and buyers both understand
