Title: Senior Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting Analyst

About You:
You have a strong foundation in public accounting, ideally with Big Four experience, and are eager to grow your expertise in SEC reporting and technical accounting. This is an ideal role for someone who wants to deepen their knowledge of complex accounting guidance, US GAAP compliance, and the SEC reporting processes that support public company operations. You're naturally curious about how technology and AI can simplify workflows, reduce manual effort, and make processes more efficient. You're accustomed to rolling up your sleeves to get things done, and you're excited by the opportunity to work closely with external auditors and advisors.
What You’ll do:
SEC and Financial Reporting
- Prepare and coordinate the filing of 10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, earnings releases, and other SEC-required reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations
- Prepare and distribute internal financial reporting packages for senior leadership and other key stakeholders
- Draft and assemble financial statements, footnotes, management's discussion and analysis, and supporting schedules and disclosures within SEC filings
- Serve as a reliable point of contact and collaborative partner to teams across Finance, Accounting, Legal, Equity Administration, Business Operations, and Insurance on reporting-related matters
- Manage day-to-day operations within Workiva reporting software, maintaining templates, workflows, and reporting processes while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
- Collaborate closely with external auditors to facilitate quarterly reviews and annual audits, supporting the timely resolution of technical accounting questions
- Utilize AI tools and emerging technologies to streamline reporting workflows, reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and contribute to a culture of continuous process improvement
Technical Accounting & Accounting Policy
- Maintain and update Hippo’s accounting policies, ensuring documentation is current and aligned with US GAAP standards and SEC requirements
- Research and analyze complex transactions, applying relevant ASC guidance, and drafting well-supported accounting memos
- Monitor new accounting standards and pronouncements and assist in evaluating their impact on the company's operations and financial reporting
- Conduct technical accounting research and help translate conclusions into practical application within day-to-day accounting operations
- Assist in compiling documentation and coordinating testing activities in support of the company's Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program
- Leverage AI-powered tools to enhance efficiency in technical research, memo drafting, policy tracking, and accounting analysis, reducing manual effort and improving quality of work product
Must Haves:
- Degree requirement in Accounting
- CPA preferred, not required

The Morristown, NJ and San Francisco Bay Area base pay range for this role is $73,500 – $110,250. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, location, business needs and market demands.
