Next Shift Learning (NSL) is a workforce design studio that builds economic freedom by shifting minds to ultimately shift futures. Our team is focused on creating engaging in-person and virtual learning experiences that enable historically excluded and underinvested talent to see their potential, share their strengths, and unlock networks with partner companies.
NSL and Snap Inc. have built curriculum and designed instruction for eight years that has engaged 300+ Scholars in a paid learning experience. These Scholars have leveled up in Design, Software Engineering, Communications, Marketing and Augmented Reality through instruction and skills sharing from Snap Inc. team members. This year, Snap Inc. will be hosting the Snap Design Academy, Snap Engineering Academy, the Snap Storytelling Academy, and the Snap Lens Academy.
The four academies are hands-on, nine-week, paid training programs held exclusively for community college students to develop their Design, Engineering, Marketing, Communications, or Augmented Reality skills. Each student will participate in custom, creative and technical workshops, fireside chats, and mentorship with Snap Inc. team members. All academies will start on June 15, 2026, and culminate with a final showcase on August 14, 2026.
Co-instructors will lead 15 Snap Storytelling Academy Scholars in a nine-week marketing, communications, brand experience, and sales education training program that explores storytelling and persuasive, professional development techniques, and a final project in partnership with the other Snap Academies.
The Teaching Team consists of two Instructors, with support from a Coach, a former Snap Academy alumni. The three members of the Teaching Team will lead instruction during the first six weeks, which consists of domain skills and project activities.
For the capstone project, known as the Final Showcase, only one Instructor and Coach will facilitate instruction and support during the remaining three weeks of the Academy.
