Job Function Description:
The Data Platform Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability,
availability, and cost efficiency of the Airbyte-based data ingestion platform
running on Kubernetes. This role focuses on operating and monitoring
production data sync infrastructure, ensuring data is reliably synced from
source databases into downstream data pipelines, and maintaining strong
observability and cost controls across AWS resources.
You will be responsible for:
Own and operate Airbyte infrastructure running on KubernetesEnsure reliable data syncs from source databases into downstream data pipelinesMonitor and troubleshoot Airbyte sync failures and performance issuesDesign, build, and maintain Python-based monitoring and alerting systemsEnsure high availability and reliability of data ingestion workflowsManage and optimize infrastructure costs related to data sync workloadsConfigure and maintain alerting systems for infrastructure and pipeline healthManage and ensure availability of AWS resources used for data sync and storageCollaborate with downstream data consumers to resolve ingestion-related issuesPerform root cause analysis and incident resolution for ingestion failures

Years of experience: 5-8 yearsStrong experience with Python (monitoring, automation, alerting)Hands-on experience operating Airbytein productionExperience running workloads on KubernetesSolid understanding of AWS, especially S3, IAM, and monitoring servicesExperience with data ingestion pipelines and ETL/ELT conceptsFamiliarity with logging, metrics, and alerting systemsAbility to manage cost visibility and optimization for cloud infrastructureExperience with Git and operational best practicesFamiliarity with containerization (Docker) is preferredExperience with infrastructure cost monitoring tools is an added advantageKnowledge of data platform reliability or SRE practices is preferred
