We are seeking a Sr. Operations Support Specialist to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
Act as the day-to-day technical interface between facility operations and programmatic tenants within laboratory spaces.
Support daily business operations and contribute to the development and delivery of facility operations programs, policies, processes, and procedures.
Provide guidance on governmental regulations and laboratory guidelines to ensure safe and compliant operations.
Conduct incident investigations, manage general issues, and prepare reports.
Participate in and support operational readiness reviews.
Support activity approval processes for facility work execution.
Develop, maintain, and update operational documentation and procedural manuals.
Assist with planning, scheduling, and budgeting for facility operations and construction activities.
Support compliance and quality functions, including training development, delivery, tracking, and assurance.
Ensure employee training requirements are met and properly documented.
Manage property accountability and facility access control.
Provide general operational and administrative support as needed.
Oversee mission deliverables for construction activities and operations, ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
Ensure the safe and timely execution of work in a Hazard Category 2, Security Classification 2 radiological facility.
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with laboratory policies and regulatory requirements.
Organize and coordinate construction operations and field control activities.
Coordinate multiple project teams to ensure proper staffing and successful execution of work.
Provide support services across various construction projects.
Ensure consistent application of construction engineering standards and practices.
Develop and improve processes where gaps or inefficiencies exist.
Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
Oversee subcontractors and project personnel to ensure performance and compliance.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, customers, and internal teams.
Ensure end-to-end success of assigned deliverables.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline eight (8) years related experience or combination of education and relevant experience. 15 or more years’ experience in the construction field and 5 years of experience supporting the DOE mission is highly desired.; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
Demonstrate strong knowledge of facility operations, construction practices, and compliance requirements.
Be able to work effectively in regulated environments with strict safety and quality standards.
Have experience developing and maintaining operational documentation, procedures, and training programs.
Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Possess strong communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
Have experience with budgeting, planning, and project execution.
Desired Skills
Hold prior qualifications as an Electrical Field Work Supervisor, Field Work Supervisor, or Responsible Line Manager.
Have experience working in a DOE plutonium facility or similar high-hazard nuclear facility.
Have experience supporting construction or decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) projects.
Demonstrate experience in work control environments.
Be familiar with NQA-1 quality standards and compliance frameworks.
Possess a strong background in quality control, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Demonstrate the ability to manage complex technical and operational issues.
Have leadership experience overseeing teams and subcontractors in high-risk environments.
