About Heard
Heard is an all-in-one financial solution for therapists and mental health providers that combines software and human support to handle bookkeeping, taxes, payroll, and more. Our mission is to help providers be providers – acting as their financial back office so they can spend less time running their business and more time helping their clients.
Heard is growing rapidly and we're building a new generation of AI-powered products to help therapists take control of their financial lives. We're looking for engineers who can help us move fast across retention, automation, and new product development.
The Role
We're looking for a Seattle based Senior Software Engineer who's a strong systems thinker, ships fast, and operates with high autonomy. You have deep experience designing, building, and scaling complex systems - and you amplify that with AI-assisted development tooling to move even faster.
This is a on-site, heavily IC, full-stack role. You'll flex across priorities - building automation that eliminates manual bookkeeping workflows, improving retention through better customer experiences, and launching new products and features into the market. You'll work across the frontend and backend, and across a system with many third-party integrations. You'll collaborate closely with product, design, operations, and other engineering teams to move work forward.
You bring strong fundamentals in system design, architecture, and building for maintainability - and you also leverage tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex to accelerate your work in production codebases. You know how to configure these tools for brownfield repos, maintain quality at speed, and apply AI agent orchestration to automate real workloads.
What You'll Do
Ship features and systems across the full stack, primarily in Node, Typescript, AWS, and PostgresWork across retention, automation, and new product initiatives depending on what matters most right nowBuild and maintain integrations with third-party services and APIs across the platformDesign and build automated workflows that reduce manual operational effort (bookkeeping, reconciliation, support)Collaborate daily with product managers, designers, operations leads, and other engineers - this role is highly cross-functionalDrive architectural decisions on scope, feasibility, and tradeoffs with minimal hand-holdingLead by example – your output and approach raise the bar for the team
