Our Vision: Prefect will define automation for the context era.
Our Mission: Curate an intelligent context layer that delivers the right information at the right time.
Our remote first company is singularly focused on this vision and mission, and every team member directly contributes to their advancement.
We've carefully created a supportive, high-performance culture - the operating system of our company - that empowers our team to do the best work of their careers and achieve their personal and professional aspirations.
Our company operates both open-source and commercial offerings, partnering with Fortune 500 companies, data innovators, and fast-growing digitally native startups. We are looking for folks who want to join a remote-first team #LI-Remote to continue building an equally amazing company, product, and developer community.
We're looking for a product engineer to join the Horizon team and build the interfaces and experiences that make Horizon indispensable for developers. Horizon helps developers deploy, scale, and manage MCP servers with zero configuration — built for modern AI development workflows with production-ready infrastructure.
This is a product engineering role with a strong design sensibility. You'll own features end-to-end — from understanding the user problem, to wireframing a solution, to shipping polished UI backed by solid full-stack implementation. You'll partner directly with our VP of Product, other product engineers, and early customers to turn field signal into working software fast.
This role sits at the intersection of an emergent market where AI and LLM tooling are reshaping how development teams operate. We're looking for someone who shares our excitement about this space and brings strong opinions about where it's heading.
You'll report to Prefect's Director of Engineering, Jenny.
Own end-to-end product features in Horizon — from user problem to wireframe to shipped, polished UI. You define what "done" looks like.
Design and build user-facing experiences that are thoughtful, fast, and intuitive. You have taste and opinions about how developer tools should feel.
Partner with product and customers to translate field signal and user feedback into working software at pace.
Write maintainable and performant full-stack code — your strength is on the front-end and in UI/UX, and you're capable across the stack when the feature demands it.
Develop product knowledge of the AI/LLM tooling space, MCP ecosystem, and how Horizon fits into emerging patterns.
Participate in on-call/incident response and help maintain production reliability standards.
5+ years of full-stack engineering experience, with demonstrated success shipping user-facing products.
Strong front-end and design skills with deep proficiency in TypeScript, React, and modern UI libraries like Tanstack. You can go from wireframe to polished implementation. You have opinions about good UI/UX and the craft to back them up.
Comfortable across the full stack, but your strength and energy is in the product surface, especially the things users see and interact with.
Experience building with or genuine interest in the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and AI/LLM tooling. You follow the landscape closely and have formed opinions.
Track record of shipping in high-ambiguity, early-stage environments. You're comfortable with incomplete information and fast iteration.
Equally comfortable shipping a rough prototype to test an idea and hardening production code that users depend on. You know when to move fast and scrappy to validate direction and when to slow down and build for durability.
Self-directed with strong judgment: you identify problems, propose solutions, and ship — keeping the team aligned through clear communication.
Comfortable with AI-powered development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, etc.) as force multipliers for your work.
Python experience is a bonus.
