Having raised a total of $218 million (approx. ¥33 billion) in Series A and B funding, we operate our product development out of Bangalore, India; product strategy from the US; and GTM primarily in Japan, with extensions into the US, Singapore, and Australia. Our corporate functions are centralized in Japan, enabling us to pursue innovation and global business growth with a distributed yet synchronized organizational structure.
Position Overview
This role goes beyond traditional accounting and includes responsibilities in finance, treasury, and strategic reporting. You will lead accounting operations across both Japan and global subsidiaries while progressively taking ownership of consolidated reporting, tax and disclosure compliance, and internal controls. Additionally, you will be responsible for cash flow visibility and strategic currency movement across multiple currencies and countries.
You won’t be just reporting numbers — you’ll be expected to derive strategic insights from financial data (PL/BS/CF) and communicate their business impact directly to the CEO, becoming a key player in shaping company strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Consolidated Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements (PL/BS/CF)
Create and present strategic management reports (both quantitative and qualitative) to the CEO and leadership team
Analyze financials from a business perspective and provide insights that inform business strategy
Subsidiary & External Stakeholder Management
Monitor financial performance of overseas subsidiaries and standardize reporting practices
Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors across multiple jurisdictions
Ensure alignment of accounting treatments with IFRS and local GAAP standards
Process & Organizational Design
Build and optimize global financial reporting processes, including automation and efficiency improvements
Standardize accounting and finance operations across Japan and global subsidiaries
Coach and support internal stakeholders and finance team members
Management Support & Strategic Input
Conduct drill-down analysis of key figures to support executive decision-making
Identify accounting/finance issues and analyze related risks and opportunities
Provide long-term financial strategy input to the CEO and CFO
Required Skills & Experience (MUST)
Candidates must meet or have equivalent experience in the following:
5+ years of experience in financial accounting or corporate finance
Strong understanding of PL/BS/CF structure and ability to analyze/explain from a strategic perspective
Practical experience or deep understanding of treasury operations (cash flow, FX risk, liquidity management)
Experience reporting to or advising senior management (CEO/CFO)
Experience working with auditors/accounting firms in multinational environments
Business-level English and native-level Japanese proficiency (both verbal and written)
Advanced accounting knowledge equivalent to Japan Bookkeeping Level 1 (CPA or USCPA preferred)
Preferred Skills & Experience (WANT)
CPA (Japan or US) certification, or equivalent accounting expertise
Experience in startup or high-growth environments
IPO preparation and financial disclosure experience (e.g., securities reports, earnings statements)
Accounting/finance experience in SaaS or tech companies
Hands-on IFRS/multicurrency accounting experience
Experience managing global accounting operations including overseas subsidiaries
Experience using English in accounting, auditing, or taxation operations
Experience with financial process improvement, automation, system migration/implementation
Experience negotiating and coordinating with overseas teams or stakeholders on cross-border projects

Compensation & Benefits
Estimated annual salary: ¥10M–15M (flexible based on experience and skillset)
Location: Tokyo (hybrid work model with 3+ days/week in office)
Working Hours: Flexible hours with core time from 10:00–16:00
