A growing engineering and manufacturing services organization supporting clients in the advanced manufacturing industries is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on strengthening supplier performance, supporting manufacturing quality initiatives, and assisting in supply chain optimization. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams while developing expertise in supplier development, quality systems, and advanced manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in developing and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery expectations are met
Work with suppliers to resolve technical issues related to product quality and manufacturing processes
Support suppliers in meeting customer specifications and industry standards through training, audits, and improvement initiatives
Identify and help qualify new manufacturing sources for components that are difficult to procure
Act as a technical liaison between design engineering teams and suppliers to communicate manufacturing requirements and support vendor quoting processes
Participate in reviewing supplier production processes, schedules, and manufacturing methods to identify improvement opportunities
Assist with process optimization efforts by gathering and analyzing data related to supplier performance
Support Process Flow Development and PFMEA activities by helping identify risks and process inefficiencies
Participate in supplier audits and assist in evaluating compliance with quality and regulatory standards
Review incoming materials and products to confirm alignment with technical specifications
Prepare and maintain documentation related to supplier quality, including audit reports, corrective actions, and process updates
Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve supplier challenges and maintain product quality standards
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related technical field
At least 1 year of experience in supplier development, quality engineering, or a related role
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to support process improvement initiatives
Familiarity with quality and risk management methodologies such as DFMEA or PFMEA
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers
