The Tax Assistant is an individual contributor role within the Finance function, responsible for supporting the delivery of the Williams’ tax obligations across UK and international taxes. The role works closely with the Head of Tax, external advisors, and wider business stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant tax reporting, while providing pragmatic tax advice to facilitate operational and commercial activities.

Main Duties:
- Collaborate with external advisors in the preparation and review of UK corporate tax and partnership tax returns.
- Manage the UK VAT compliance process, including return preparation, review, and timely submission.
- Oversee international sales tax compliance across relevant jurisdictions, coordinating with advisors as required.
- Support the preparation of Research & Development (R&D) tax relief claims and Capital Allowances claims.
- Assist with Pay As You Earn Settlement Agreement (PSA) calculations and related HMRC reporting.
- Support withholding tax reporting, including driver-related matters where applicable.
- Monitor adherence to transfer pricing policies and support compliance activities.
- Provide tax support to internal stakeholders including Legal, HR, Commercial and HR teams.
- Support engagement with tax authorities under the guidance of the Head of Tax.
- Manage tax considerations relating to Heritage car sales, import/export taxes, and customs compliance.
Key Accountabilities:
- Take ownership of assigned tax compliance and reporting activities, ensuring all deliverables are accurate, timely, and aligned with applicable legislation and internal policies.
- Act as a reliable technical point of contact for defined tax areas, escalating risks or issues to the Head of Tax where appropriate and proposing practical solutions.
- Maintain strong working relationships with external tax advisors, coordinating information flows and supporting efficient delivery of outsourced work.
- Provide clear, pragmatic tax input to internal stakeholders across Finance and the wider business, translating technical tax matters into commercially relevant advice.
- Demonstrate high standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability, operating in line with Williams Values & Behaviours and acting as a positive ambassador for the Finance function.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve tax processes, documentation, and controls, contributing to continuous improvement within the Tax and Finance teams.

Qualifications
- Experience within a Finance or Tax function.
- ACA / CTA qualified, part-qualified, or willingness to progress towards qualification.
- Sound understanding of UK corporate tax and VAT.
- Exposure to international tax matters is advantageous.
- Ability to explain tax matters clearly to non-tax stakeholders.
