Job Title: Technical SEO Manager (WordPress Expert)
Job Type: Full-time / Remote
Work Hours: PST
Job Overview:
We’re helping our client find a Technical SEO Manager (WordPress Expert) to own and scale the full SEO engine—from technical audits and WordPress implementation to content architecture, performance optimization, and conversion-driven organic growth. In this role, you will lead organic performance by improving site health, structure, and UX while working closely with marketing, engineering, and content teams to drive measurable, revenue-focused results.
Responsibilities:
Technical SEO (Core Focus)
- Own technical SEO audits and implementation across WordPress properties
- Improve crawlability and indexation: robots.txt, sitemaps, canonical tags, redirects, pagination, duplicate content, and URL structure
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues: broken links, redirect chains, index bloat, crawl errors, orphan pages, schema errors
- Implement and validate structured data (schema) to improve SERP visibility
- Improve Core Web Vitals, site speed, and UX performance (LCP, CLS, INP)
- Monitor technical performance using tools like Screaming Frog, GSC, and PageSpeed Insights
- Collaborate with engineering to implement SEO-friendly site architecture and scalable templates
WordPress Ownership & Implementation
- Be the SEO owner inside WordPress: page templates, content modules, categories/tags, internal linking, metadata, and technical settings
- Work with WordPress themes/builders and maintain best practices for SEO-safe development
- Manage and optimize SEO plugins (Yoast/RankMath), caching plugins, and performance tools
- Implement page-level optimization including titles, meta descriptions, headers, and internal linking strategies
- Maintain clean taxonomy and ensure content structure supports topical authority and discoverability
- Ensure WP changes do not break tracking, conversions, or SEO health
Content Strategy (SEO-Driven)
- Build a keyword strategy and content roadmap focused on high-intent lead growth
- Create content clusters that build authority and rank for competitive matchmaking and relationship terms
- Optimize existing content for ranking + conversion (CTR, intent match, on-page structure)
- Partner with writers to produce content that ranks and drives qualified leads
- Own internal linking strategy to strengthen authority and funnel users to conversion pages
Analytics & Reporting
- Track organic growth performance via GA4, Search Console, Mixpanel (if needed), and SEO tooling
- Report weekly/monthly on rankings, traffic, conversion rate, lead quality, and revenue impact
- Run technical and content experiments to improve performance
- Build dashboards that connect SEO work to business outcomes
Requirements
Must-Have:
- 4–7+ years of SEO experience with deep technical proficiency
- Advanced WordPress experience (must be able to implement changes directly in WP)
- Strong understanding of technical SEO, schema, site architecture, and indexation strategy
- Strong knowledge of Core Web Vitals and performance optimization
- Experience with SEO tools: Ahrefs/SEMrush, Screaming Frog, GSC, GA4
- Strong analytical skillset and ability to translate data into action
- Clear communication and ability to work cross-functionally
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience scaling SEO for a consumer subscription, marketplace, or lead-gen business
- Experience with programmatic SEO, city pages, or templated landing pages
- Familiarity with CRO and landing page optimization
- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks
- Basic HTML/CSS knowledge and comfort working with dev teams
