We’re looking for a Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Manager to be the institutional owner of our Learning Management System (LMS) and associated learning technologies. You’ll ensure our digital learning environment delivers an excellent experience for students—supporting the full learner journey from course and content set-up through to reporting, analytics and continuous improvement.

Working closely with academic and professional services teams, you’ll lead the day-to-day operation and development of our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), oversee integrations and lecture capture, and drive effective, well-organised processes that deliver value for money. You’ll also manage and develop our Technology Enhanced Learning Officer, helping to deliver a high-quality, responsive service.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the operational management, maintenance and enhancement of the LMS/VLE and associated technologies.
  • Manage course set-up and content creation processes, ensuring smooth student transitions onto the LMS and between levels.
  • Carry out proportionate quality assurance spot-checks of documentation and learning materials before publication to the LMS, ensuring accuracy, consistency, accessibility and alignment with institutional standards (formal sign-off sits with academic leadership).
  • Produce and develop reports and analytics to support learning engagement insights and management information, collaborating on data and reporting improvements.
  • Deliver and implement projects, reviews and enhancements aligned to the operational plan.
  • Manage lecture capture configuration and operation.
  • Line manage, coach and develop the TEL Officer, ensuring effective day-to-day service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Provide support and targeted training to academic teams on effective LMS use, promoting consistent practice and building capability through guidance, resources and sessions.

What we’re looking for:

You’ll be a thoughtful academic leader with a track record of supporting curriculum innovation and enhancing teaching practice. You’re someone who can work collaboratively across departments, lead with integrity, and help shape a values-driven academic culture.

Essentials:

  • A degree (or equivalent), ideally with postgraduate study in a relevant discipline, plus a relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience managing an LMS (preferably Canvas) including integrations, and supporting structured online learning that optimises the student pathway.
  • Strong planning and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop colleagues and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence working collaboratively across academic and professional services teams and with external stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of current practice and emerging trends in technology enhanced learning.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Canvas and Moodle LMS platforms
