The Veritas Net Backup Administrator will primarily support a single customer, but may also interact with the existing backup team to manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot and support 50+ customers' backup environment consisting of RHEL Master/Media Servers, Quantum I6K tape libraries, and Quantum DXi storage units.
Responsible for gathering requirements, installation, configuration, and testing of backups in a high availability enterprise system.
• Monitor backup jobs across multiple platforms
• Perform routine disaster recovery scenarios
• Maintain backup policies and standards
• Troubleshoot performance problems and propose solutions
• Maintain all equipment for backup environment to include servers, disk, and tape storage devices
• Create and maintain documentation
• Follow and maintain in-house documentation for repeatable processes
• Follow ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practices for Change Management
• Five (5) or more years' experience with Veritas NetBackup 8.x or greater
• Five (5) or more years' experience with MS-Windows, Solaris, and RHEL/OEL Linux environments
• Two (2) or more years' experience with VMWare 6.x or greater
• Two (2) or more years' experience with network communication (IP based)
• Installation and configuration experience with Windows Server 2016, Solaris 11, RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 and higher
• Experience with both Windows Powershell and Bash shell scripting
• Strong CLI skills
• Experience with SAN and FC networks
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP communications
• Strong documentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and willing to be a team player
Nice to Haves:
Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Security Readiness Review (SRR) scripts, and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM)
• Experience with Brocade DCX and Cisco MDS switches
• Experience with Oracle and SAP backups and backup scripting
• Experience with Microsoft SQL backups
• Experience with NDMP backups
• Experience with MS Active Directory Security Groups, Security permissions with inheritance, and ACLS
