Job Summary:
The Vice President position is within Institutional distribution responsible for developing and managing research and field consultant relationships with investment consultants primarily located in the Eastern US. The role is focused on driving the firm’s visibility, growing consultant research ratings, engaging with senior field consultants, OCIO and other firm influencers to ultimately raise capital through this critical institutional channel. Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Work in a collaborative consultant relations team alongside two Senior Vice Presidents, one Associate Director and one Sr. Associate to effectively cover the global consultant universe; segmented by tiers, complexity and proclivity to partner with CNS
- Directly focus on Tier 1 and Tier 2 consultant firms primarily located in the Eastern US and serve as second chair on several Global & Tier 1 firms
- Build, maintain and deepen relationships across the consultant coverage with research, field consultants, OCIO portfolio management and other influencers
- Achieve the highest recommendations/ratings across the firms and monetize those ratings with searches, placements and other allocator activity initiated by the consultants
- Promote Cohen & Steers investment strategies and value proposition through a high level of activity, meetings, conferences and other relationship building opportunities
- Collaborate on coverage and opportunities with the Institutional Sales and Relationship Management teams to triangulate around mandate opportunities
- Develop business plans, conduct regular strategy reviews and coordinate activity/tactics for consulting firms
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
- 10+ years of related institutional asset management experience with direct experience in covering investment consultants
- Proven track record of success in actively marketing the institutional consultant community to drive new strategy approvals and assets
- Series 7 and Series 63 licenses preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- CFA, CAIA or other professional qualifications preferred
- Willingness and able to travel
- Ability to translate complex investment concepts for consultant audiences
- Excellent relationship management & communication skills
- Highly collaborative with the ability to influence across investment and other internal teams
- Able to prioritize and multi-task in deadline driven environment
- Deep understanding of the institutional asset management business
- Strong knowledge of consultant research and ratings processes
- Knowledge of broader investment market, with preference to real estate and real assets
