Pipe Layer – Wet Utilities
Location: Washington, DC
Position Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Pipe Layer with experience in wet utility installation. The ideal candidate will be skilled in laying stormwater, sanitary sewer, and domestic water lines, as well as setting precast structures. This role requires precision, teamwork, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install underground utilities including storm, sewer, and water systems according to project specifications.
- Set and align precast structures such as manholes and catch basins.
- Assist equipment operators and other crew members with trenching and grading.
- Ensure proper bedding and backfill of pipe systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints and cut sheets to ensure accurate installation.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site.
- Follow all safety protocols and participate in daily safety meetings.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors to ensure project goals are met.
Qualifications:
- 2–3 years of experience in pipe laying for wet utility systems.
- Familiarity with trench safety and shoring practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Ability to pass a federal background check.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing tasks that require standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and crouching.
- Visual acuity for reading plans and working safely around heavy equipment.
