The Windows & Unix area is responsible for the stable, secure, and high-performance operation of the company’s server infrastructure supporting business-critical applications. This includes the administration of Windows and Unix-based systems (Linux, AIX) as well as virtualization platforms across on-premise data centers and cloud environments.
The Windows & Unix / Virtualization Lead plays a key role in ensuring operational excellence by leading server management activities, driving infrastructure modernization initiatives, and maintaining compliance with security and service standards. The position requires strong technical leadership, strategic planning, and close collaboration with cross-functional IT teams to ensure reliable and efficient IT operations.
Responsibilities:
Lead the management, deployment, and optimization of Windows and Unix (Linux, AIX) server environmentsOversee patch management, performance monitoring, and incident response for server infrastructureEnsure compliance with security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practicesDrive migration projects for end-of-life hardware and legacy systemsDevelop and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery processesLead troubleshooting and resolution of server-related incidents and problemsMaintain comprehensive documentation of server architectures, configurations, and operational proceduresMentor and guide L2 Support Analysts, fostering skill development and knowledge sharingOrganize and manage the on-call rota for the server operations areaCollaborate with application, network, and storage teams to ensure seamless server operationsConduct regular reviews of server performance, capacity, and utilizationLead server consolidation and optimization initiativesParticipate in governance, reporting, and service review meetingsEnsure alignment with SLA requirements and operational targetsSupport audit and compliance activities for server environmentsLead the response to audit findings and ensure timely remediationStay current with emerging server technologies and industry best practicesManage vendor relationships and coordinate with third-party support providersDrive continuous improvement in server management processesSupport business continuity and disaster recovery planning for server platformsOversee the secure decommissioning and disposal of end-of-life hardwareManage and support the hypervisor and virtualization layer (VMware or equivalent platforms)Maintain and support server clusters in on-premise data centers and VMC on AWS environments
Requirements:
Advanced skills in Windows, Linux, and AIX server administrationExperience with CIS hardening standards and structured patch orchestrationStrong expertise in virtualization platforms such as VMware, Nutanix, or Hyper-VKnowledge of VM clustering and high availability architecturesIn-depth experience with Active Directory, GPO strategy, and secure administrationUnderstanding of Linux/AIX identity integration technologies (SSSD, PAM, Kerberos)Experience with SSH key management and secure authentication methodsPerformance engineering skills including PerfMon, event log analysis, and IOPS monitoringExperience with TLS/PKI infrastructure and certificate lifecycle managementProven knowledge of backup and disaster recovery planningExperience with endpoint security management and EDR agent operationsDemonstrated expertise in EOL remediation and OS/platform migration projectsStrong documentation and CMDB management skillsAbility to mentor junior team members and support their professional developmentStrong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder management abilitiesAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment
