Wordpress Web Developer

We are seeking an experienced and creative WordPress Designer and Developer to join our team to design, develop, and maintain our client websites and web applications. As a WordPress Developer, you will be responsible for creating web designs and turning them into functional, user-friendly, and visually appealing websites that align with our clients’ needs. You will work closely with our design and content teams to ensure a seamless and engaging user experience.

Responsibilities

• Website Design: Create graphically appealing website designs that match a client’s brand standards, colors and content needs.
• Website Development: Leverage your WordPress expertise to build and customize websites and web applications according to project requirements and design guidelines.
• Theme and Plugin Development: Develop custom themes and plugins to enhance website functionality and appearance. Modify and adapt existing themes/plugins as needed.
• Front-End Development: Implement responsive and visually consistent designs using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to ensure cross-device and cross-browser compatibility.
• Back-End Development: Set up and configure WordPress installations, databases, and server environments. Integrate third-party APIs and services as required.
• Content Management: Manage content updates, additions, and modifications on WordPress websites. Ensure content is presented effectively and follows best practices for SEO.
• Performance Optimization: Refine website speed, mobile responsiveness, and site architecture. Integrate structured data, canonical URLs, and secure HTTPS to amplify crawling, indexing, and user experiences, bolstering technical SEO.
• Security and Maintenance: Implement security measures to safeguard websites from vulnerabilities and potential threats. Perform monthly updates, backups, and maintenance tasks.
• Collaboration: Work closely with designers, content creators, and other developers to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality.
• Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, bugs, and errors that arise during development or after deployment.
• Stay Updated: Keep up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in WordPress development and web development in general.

Requirements

• Experience: 5-8 years of proven experience in WordPress development, with a strong portfolio showcasing your projects.
• Proven experience designing websites for WordPress implementation using brand guidelines and copy direction. Experience with design software like Figma, or AD is helpful.
• Graphic design background helpful including expertise in digital media and/or fine arts 
• Proven experience as a WordPress Developer or similar role managing multiple websites.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
• Strong knowledge of WordPress architecture, themes (Divi, Elementor), plugins, and APIs.
• Familiarity with front-end libraries/frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, Tailwinds, jQuery).
• Experience with responsive design and mobile optimization.
• Understanding of SEO principles and best practices.
• Ability to work with design tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Sketch) to extract assets and implement designs accurately.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent English communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) is desirable.
