We are hiring two Accounting Co-ops! Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the Accounting Co-op (Compliance) will assist the Compliance team with completing the testing and documentation requirements related to Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) for SOX Compliance.
This role is a 4 month contract with the opportunity for extension, fully on-site based at our Downtown Vancouver studio.
In this role, you can expect to:
Documentation Review and Testing:Execute the testing of documentation to evaluate the design and effectiveness of ICFR and to ensure it aligns with SOX requirements.Assist in conducting process and control walkthroughs.Assess the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of documentation submitted for SOX compliance.Identify discrepancies or errors in documentation, assessing if discrepancies are control deficiencies and identify the impact of the discrepancyWork with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement corrective action plans to address and rectify discrepancies and control deficiencies.Process Management:Maintain a systematic approach for documentation testing.Collaborate with various departments to ensure timely submission and accuracy of documentation.Maintain records of all testing activities, findings, and resolutions in an organized manner.Utilize project management and workflow management applications.Reporting & Communication:Prepare detailed reports on documentation testing results, including any identified issues and suggested corrective actions.Communicate findings and recommendations to management and relevant stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, your background includes:
Enrolled in a post-secondary institution seeking a Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.Completion of fundamental accounting courses .Pursuing a CPA designation is an asset but not required.Practical general accounting experience in a professional or volunteer setting.High attention to detail.Strong communication, both written and verbal.Solid proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly in Excel), and Google Workspace/G-Suite.Proven track record of being self-directed along with exceptional organization and research skills.Flexible and willing to go that extra mile to gain more knowledge and experience.Demonstrate the capacity to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities while remaining calm and controlled.
