The Job
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical BSA/AML professional to help strengthen Cardless’s financial crime compliance program. This role ensures that Cardless’s credit card programs operate in full compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, and related financial crime laws.
As a BSA/AML Manager, you’ll play a critical role in monitoring transactions, identifying suspicious activity, and maintaining robust compliance systems that protect Cardless and its customers. You’ll collaborate closely with teams across risk, operations, fraud, customer support, and product to develop effective controls, support investigations, and ensure regulatory obligations are consistently met.
This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on investigative work, regulatory precision, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced fintech environment.
Responsibilities
Conduct ongoing transaction monitoring and analysis to detect unusual or suspicious patterns that may indicate money laundering or other illicit activity.
Investigate alerts and file Unusual Activity Referrals (UARs) with our bank partners.
Perform Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews for both new and existing customers, ensuring full compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
Review customer and transactional data for compliance with sanctions programs, including those administered by OFAC and other global regulators.
Support the development, implementation, and enhancement of BSA/AML and sanctions policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Conduct periodic risk assessments to evaluate money laundering, terrorist financing, and sanctions exposure across Cardless programs.
Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation and assist with regulatory examinations or partner bank reviews.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure operational and product processes align with applicable laws and regulations.
Stay current with evolving BSA/AML, OFAC, and FinCEN guidance, incorporating new requirements into program updates.
Contribute to ongoing training and awareness initiatives to promote a strong compliance culture throughout the organization.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in AML compliance, financial investigations, or related roles within banking, fintech, or credit card programs.
Solid understanding of BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, FinCEN, and related regulatory frameworks.
Demonstrated experience with transaction monitoring systems, alert investigation, and UAR preparation.
Excellent analytical, writing, and critical-thinking skills with high attention to detail.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to present findings to compliance and business leaders.
Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and regulatory excellence.
Bonus Points
CAMS, CFCS, or similar AML certification.
Experience in fintech or credit card issuing programs.
Familiarity with automated AML tools (Sardine) and analytics platforms.
Interest in combining compliance expertise with technology and data-driven solutions.
Before You Apply
A few things worth knowing:
We work in the office 5 days a week. We know that's a dealbreaker for some people, and that's okay.
This is an early-stage company. We're ~40 people servicing hundreds of thousands of customers. You'll be building processes that don't exist yet, not optimizing ones that do. If you want structure handed to you, this isn't the right fit.
You'll need to be highly self-directed. There isn’t a playbook for this role, and you won’t get daily check-ins. We’re looking for someone who sees what’s broken or missing, takes ownership, and follows through without being asked.
The pace is intense and this role is hands-on. We have aggressive goals and a lot to build — this isn't a 9-to-5 quiet, maintenance-mode compliance job—you’ll be in the middle of everything.
If that scared you off, no hard feelings. If it got you excited, keep reading.
Why this Role is cool:
