StraighterLine’s Early Childhood Education division supports educators nationwide through learning management systems, certification platforms, and workforce registries. Some of our platforms are funded and shaped in partnership with state agencies and other public-sector clients.
We are seeking a Business Analyst who can independently manage systems and software initiatives, translate business needs into clear requirements, and drive implementation as part of an agile delivery team.
This is a client-facing role. You will work directly with external government (B2G) stakeholders who fund and influence portions of our software development, while also partnering closely with internal teams across Engineering, QA, Product, and Operations.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills, structured documentation, stakeholder management, and the ability to balance external client needs with internal technical realities.
What You’ll Do
Client & Stakeholder EngagementServe as a primary point of contact for assigned external government clientsFacilitate requirement-gathering sessions with client stakeholdersTranslate contractual, regulatory, and operational needs into actionable system requirementsCommunicate delivery status, scope changes, and tradeoffs clearly and professionallyBalance client expectations with technical feasibility and team capacityProduct Responsibilities within Scrum TeamServe as the requirements owner for a dedicated Scrum teamPrioritize backlog items in alignment with stakeholder needs and funding commitmentsParticipate actively in sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectivesEnsure completed work meets business intent and acceptance criteriaRequirements & Systems AnalysisReview, analyze, and evaluate business needs to define scope and objectivesProduce detailed workflows and specificationsMaintain organized documentation in Agile tooling environments (e.g., Jira, Confluence)Serve as liaison between business stakeholders and technical teamsIndependently resolve routine issues and escalate higher-risk concerns appropriatelyDelivery & Continuous ImprovementSupport QA and user acceptance testingIdentify process improvements that enhance clarity and delivery predictabilityContribute to reporting and data-informed decision-makingProactively identify risks, ambiguities, and dependency conflicts
What You’ll Bring
Required4–7 years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or technical product managementExperience working on moderately complex software initiativesStrong requirements documentation and backlog management skillsExperience working in Agile/Scrum environmentsExperience interacting directly with external clients or stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level communicationAbility to manage competing priorities across internal teams and external clientsBachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceNice to HaveExperience formally serving as a Product Owner or Scrum Master in an agile environmentProfessional certification in Agile or ScrumExperience in government (B2G) or public-sector technology projectsExposure to LMS, EdTech, workforce registry, or compliance-driven systemsFamiliarity with SaaS or cloud-based platformsSQL or reporting familiarityExperience collaborating with offshore engineering teams
