Phoenix enables digital transformation across the UK public sector, empowering organisations to innovate with cloud and hybrid infrastructures, data, AI, security and collaboration technologies.
We are now hiring a Business Development Manager who will be embedded within our Healthcare sales team and focused on driving new business across the NHS. This role will generate opportunities, expand our presence within NHS Trusts, ICSs and national bodies, and support the wider team with NHS‑specific expertise and sector knowledge.
What will you be doing?
- Generate new NHS opportunities by identifying, engaging and qualifying prospective Trusts, ICSs, NHSE teams and wider healthcare organisations.
- Act as a healthcare specialist and credible voice within NHS customer engagements, supporting Account Managers and Account Directors to deepen relationships and uncover new opportunities.
- Map NHS stakeholders and build multi‑level relationships across digital, clinical, IT and procurement functions.
- Work with Account Managers (including those for NHSE and central bodies) to progress strategic programmes and IT initiatives that align to wider national delivery priorities.
- Support Account Directors regionally who may require NHS expertise to strengthen customer engagement and enhance their credibility.
- Partner with the Hunt team (new business) on key NHS opportunities, providing sector insight and senior‑level support where needed.
- Join customer calls with junior or less experienced sales colleagues, helping them navigate NHS structures, identify new opportunities and build confidence.
- Collaborate with Phoenix technical specialists to shape NHS‑aligned solutions and position our capabilities effectively.
- Build pipeline across NHS organisations where Phoenix has limited or no presence, using networking, events and proactive outreach.
- Contribute to the development of long‑term healthcare strategy by sharing market intelligence, stakeholder insights and NHS programme updates.

- IT solutions sales expertise – Experience selling cloud, infrastructure, security, end‑user computing or managed/professional services into NHS settings.
- Stakeholder engagement and influencing – Able to build trust quickly with senior NHS leaders and internal Phoenix teams, while coaching less experienced colleagues.
- Commercial and strategic awareness – Understanding of NHS frameworks, commercials and long‑term account development to help prioritise opportunities and shape healthcare strategy.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to simplify complex concepts for varied NHS audiences.
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience supporting multi‑disciplinary account teams.
- Confidence in joining customer calls, shaping conversations and adding NHS-specific expertise.
- Proficient with CRM tools (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365) and confident using modern collaboration technologies.
