The Carrier Sales Supervisor at McLane Global is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing relationships with transportation carriers (truckload, LTL, intermodal, etc.). The supervisor ensures competitive pricing, reliable capacity, and high service performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Set daily/weekly/monthly sales and margin goals
- Monitor KPIs (coverage, margin, on-time performance)
- Conduct coaching sessions and performance reviews
- Assist with escalated carrier or service issues
Carrier Procurement & Negotiation
- Source new carriers to expand network capacity
- Negotiate freight rates and contracts
- Secure capacity for spot and contract freight
- Develop long-term carrier partnerships
Operational Oversight
- Ensure loads are covered in a timely manner
- Monitor carrier compliance (insurance, safety ratings, authority)
- Collaborate with customer sales and operations teams
- Track market trends and adjust pricing strategies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred)
- 3–5+ years of experience in carrier sales or freight brokerage
- 1–2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS)
- Understanding of freight markets and pricing dynamics
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
