The Role
Synapticure is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our growing virtual care team supporting patients living with neurodegenerative diseases. This role is critical to ensuring a seamless and compassionate experience for patients by coordinating medical records, managing prior authorizations, supporting specialist referrals, and assisting neurologists during virtual visits.
You will serve as a vital bridge between patients, providers, and the broader care coordination team—helping to prepare clinical documentation, facilitate communication, and ensure that all administrative and clinical support functions run efficiently. The ideal candidate is an experienced, certified medical assistant with exceptional organizational and communication skills, who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, technology-driven healthcare environment.

Job Duties – What you’ll be doing
Coordinate medical record retrieval, ensuring complete and timely submission of patient documentation for provider reviewPrepare and process referrals to specialists and manage prior authorization requests in coordination with insurance payorsVirtually greet and room patients prior to telehealth appointments, confirming patient information and visit readinessReview and update patient records in the electronic health record (EHR), maintaining accuracy and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policiesServe as a liaison between patients, caregivers, and care teams to provide information, resources, and follow-up supportAssist neurologists and advanced practice providers during virtual encounters, ensuring smooth workflows and accurate documentation.Communicate with insurance companies, clinical partners, and internal departments to resolve issues or delays related to billing, referrals, or authorizationsSupport care coordination by identifying barriers to care and escalating complex issues to clinical leadership as appropriateMaintain accountability to quality standards in all patient and partner interactions, ensuring the highest levels of professionalism and confidentialityParticipate in regular team meetings, trainings, and process improvement initiatives to enhance the patient and provider experience
Requirements – What we look for in you
Active Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or RMA required)Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical or telehealth settingDemonstrated knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standardsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approachProficient with electronic health record (EHR) systems and virtual communication toolsHighly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities efficientlyComfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience handling, reviewing, and managing medical recordsExperience coordinating referrals and authorizations within a healthcare or telehealth environmentPrior experience working in a startup or organization experiencing rapid growth and changeBilingual fluency in English and Spanish- preferredFamiliarity with neurology or chronic disease management workflows
