Chief of Staff to the CRO (f/m/d)

We are looking for a Chief of Staff to the Chief Research Officer (CRO) to act as a trusted partner and strategic enabler for Aleph Alpha’s research and tech organization. This high-impact role bridges AI research, engineering, and product development, helping the company translate cutting-edge innovation into scalable, real-world solutions.
Success in this position means amplifying the CRO’s effectiveness, fostering alignment across teams, and driving execution in a fast-evolving environment where deep tech meets applied AI.
Your Responsibilities
Strategic and Operative Support to the CRO: Work closely with the CRO on daily priorities, internal and external communication, and strategic initiatives. Provide operational leverage by coordinating projects, shaping decisions, and ensuring clarity across the leadership team.
Shape Organizational Performance and Scalability: Design and implement structures and processes that enable the research and product teams to grow and operate efficiently. Support organizational planning, hiring, and performance tracking mechanistically across the technology department.
Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ensure smooth coordination between teams within technology (research, engineering, product) as well as with teams across Aleph Alpha. Proactively identify gaps or misalignments and create mechanisms that enable faster, more informed decision-making.
Enable Leadership Effectiveness: Anticipate roadblocks, structure problem-solving, and support the CRO and leadership team in prioritizing high-impact goals. Act as an integrator, aligning efforts across diverse functions to maintain focus on what matters most.
Support Data-Driven Decision-Making: Gather insights and synthesize technical and operational data into clear narratives that guide strategic choices—from resource allocation to technology investments and roadmap planning.
Your Profile
Extensive experience in strategy, management consulting, or serving as a Chief of Staff / Operations leader within a fast-paced, technology-driven organization.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with an open, collaborative working style.
Strong understanding of both AI research and product development environments.
Proven track record of driving complex, cross-functional projects and influencing at multiple levels.
Comfort navigating ambiguity and balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution.
Experience in high-growth environments, startups, or deep-tech companies is highly desirable.
Fluency in English required; fluency in German is a strong plus.
