About the Role
The Clinical Quality Lead is a key individual contributor responsible for executing and optimizing Wheel’s quality assurance and patient safety processes across clinical programs. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Clinical Quality and Safety, this role owns clinician performance workflows, incident response documentation, cross-functional quality projects, and quality reporting. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, systems-minded clinician who thrives on tactical execution and cross-functional collaboration in a telemedicine environment.
What You'll Do
Quality Improvement & Assurance
Own the end-to-end execution of clinician chart audits, including manual audit uploads, watchlist tracking, and spearheading the roll-out and long-term program management of AI-driven audit workflows.
Coordinate with Clinician Success Leads (CSL) to post-refresher chart reviews and performance improvement plan (PIP) documentation
Support the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC), including clinician case preparation, meeting documentation, and tracking of QAC outcomes
Create and maintain clinician education materials in Skilljar
Own snippet and guideline editing to ensure clinical content remains up to date and actionable
Clinical Incident & Risk Management
Investigate clinical incidents, conduct chart audits, and collaborate on root cause documentation and recommendations
Draft corrective action language and contribute to safety policy updates
Assist with internal documentation and reporting on safety trends
Metrics, Reporting & Communication
Track and synthesize quality, safety, and clinician performance metrics using manual and automated tools
Collaborate with BI and R&D to streamline dashboards and audit reporting workflows
Contribute to client-facing quality reports and QBR materials
Monitor antibiotic stewardship trends and surface system-level insights
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Drive cross-functional initiatives as a tactical liaison across Clinical Operations, Network Operations, R&D, Business Intelligence, and Customer Success, taking independent initiative to solve bottlenecks and secure necessary alignments.
Independently troubleshoot and unblock operational hurdles or communication delays with internal teams and contract clinician networks
Coordinate quality documentation and audit schedules in support of platform and clinician performance initiatives
Create summary decks and reports to support operational briefings
Participate in clinical intake questionnaire development and configuration of new treatment areas
Assist with production testing to validate EMR workflows prior to client launch
Who You Are
Advanced clinical degree required (e.g., NP, MD, DO, PA); active license preferred
3–5+ years of experience in clinical quality, patient safety, or medical operations in a digital health or telehealth setting
Demonstrated expertise in clinician audit workflows, documentation, and reporting
Experience with Airtable, Looker, or comparable systems for quality tracking
Professional resilience and adaptability; comfortable managing shifting priorities and routine backlog management in a fast-paced digital health environment
Highly organized and self-directed, with strong communication and documentation skills
Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, navigating ambiguity and independently solving problems without requiring step-by-step managerial direction
Proven ability to take ownership of processes and outcomes, successfully driving results through lateral management and contractor oversight
Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of managing cross-functional relationships and overcoming communication roadblocks constructively
Salary and Perks
Pay Range: $142,000 - 168,000 base compensation.
Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations. The role will remain open until May 31, 2026.
