About the role:
Are you ready to help power the future of data at Shift? As our Cloud Data Engineer, you’ll be right at the heart of building and operating reliable data pipelines on our Azure-based platform. You’ll bring structure, performance, and a creative touch as we evolve our data landscape, making everything from reports to cutting-edge AI magic possible! We’re passionate about building a team that celebrates diverse perspectives and collaboration as we transform data into real impact for our business and our customers.
What you’ll do:
Build, run, and maintain robust data pipelines using Azure Data Factory in production
Enhance and support seamless data integrations between internal systems and third-party SaaS platforms
Develop and optimize SQL-based data stores, focusing on table design, indexing, and performance tuning
Help introduce Microsoft Fabric components (such as pipelines and data agents) as we level up our platform
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve pipeline or data quality issues to keep things running smoothly
Maintain cloud data stores for analytics, automation, and AI-driven workloads
Support the integration of curated datasets into downstream AI and automation tools
Contribute to key data architecture decisions, design patterns, and platform standards
Collaborate closely with technology, data, and business teams to deliver solutions that make a difference
What you’ll have:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent qualification
3–6 years’ experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or cloud platforms
Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and operating Azure data pipelines
Strong SQL skills—query optimization, table design, and performance tuning are your jam
Experience integrating data from internal systems and third-party SaaS products
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric (such as pipelines, notebooks, or data agents) is a bonus but not essential
Experience working with cloud data storage services in production (Azure SQL, Data Lake, etc.)
Practical programming experience in Python or C# is advantageous
Contributions to shared data platforms across teams or domains
Ability to apply best architectural practices in a governed cloud environment
Experience supporting platforms that feed analytics, automation, or AI-driven projects is a plus
