At Cory, we’re delivering some of the most innovative and nationally significant heat infrastructure projects in the UK — and we’re looking for a forward‑thinking Commercial Development Manager to help shape them. This is an opportunity to influence how heat is delivered across London, contributing directly to the decarbonisation of the capital and setting new standards for the UK heat market.
You’ll be at the heart of the development of the UK’s first heat transmission main — a 24km tunnelled pipeline across London, designated a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project in 2025. Alongside this, you will support our pioneering barge‑based heat transmission system, designed to unlock early heat supply to central London using Cory’s unique marine assets. These projects are both high profile and transformational, combining commercial creativity with practical engineering realities.
Working closely with our MD for Heat and the wider development team, you’ll coordinate commercial discussions with public bodies, investors, funders, and downstream heat networks. You’ll be instrumental in shaping the transactional structures that will unlock investment and move these major projects through key milestones.
This is a rare opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of commercial strategy, infrastructure development, and positive environmental impact. You’ll be joining a company with deep roots in London, an ambitious vision for low‑carbon energy, and a portfolio that includes one of the UK’s largest Energy‑from‑Waste campuses and a future carbon capture facility. Your work will directly support projects capable of delivering terawatt hours of heat — equivalent to the combined demand of the City of London and half of Westminster.
This role will suit someone who can bring first‑principles thinking to complex challenges while maintaining a structured, delivery‑focused approach. You’ll lead the commercial and transactional design of heat network projects, ensuring they align with company strategy, policy frameworks, and market needs. A strength in building relationships, translating technical concepts into commercially viable solutions, and managing multiple stakeholders will be essential.
You’ll be responsible for shaping project timelines, managing budgets, and driving resource coordination to keep the development workstream moving efficiently. You’ll prepare reports and proposals for senior leadership and shareholders, while also supporting public consultations and communication materials to ensure clarity and credibility across all engagement.
On the commercial side, you will work closely with specialist advisors to forge viable transaction models, lead negotiations, and secure funding through mechanisms including grants, loans, and investment partnerships. You’ll represent Cory at industry events, ensuring our heat network ambitions are visible, compelling, and aligned with national energy goals.
We're looking for someone with at least five years’ experience in a commercial or development role — ideally within utilities, infrastructure, or adjacent sectors — and a solid understanding of heat networks or the capability to rapidly develop one. You’ll bring financial awareness, confidence in multi‑party negotiations, and the flexibility to collaborate closely with technical colleagues to ensure commercial and engineering solutions work hand in hand.
