About the role
We’re seeking a Commercial Strategy Manager to help turn complex, ambiguous ideas into investable commercial opportunities that enhance passenger experience and drive sustainable growth.
This is a high‑impact role for a commercially minded strategist who thrives early in the problem‑solving cycle. You’ll work across multi‑disciplinary teams to shape, test and refine ideas before they become formal business cases, ensuring Sydney Airport invests in the right opportunities, at the right time, for the right reasons.
Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, you’ll bring structure to ambiguity, challenge assumptions with data, and align stakeholders around clear, evidence‑based choices that deliver long‑term commercial outcomes.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Shape early‑stage commercial opportunities by clarifying the real problem, customer need, value levers, risks and options
- Lead structured strategic thinking, facilitating workshops and producing clear decision papers that articulate trade‑offs, economics and recommendations
- Pressure‑test ideas with data, using analytical rigour to validate assumptions, model scenarios and surface insights
- Influence senior stakeholders, guiding decision‑makers through ambiguity and building shared ownership of strategic choices
- Stand up investable initiatives, moving concepts through stage‑gates toward resourced programs and business cases
- Collaborate across the business, partnering with Commercial, Finance, Operations, Passenger Experience, Data & Analytics and external stakeholders
- Champion strategic discipline, curiosity and continuous improvement across the Commercial function
About You
You’re a strategic thinker who enjoys getting hands‑on - comfortable diving into data, challenging thinking, and working shoulder‑to‑shoulder with diverse teams to create clarity.
You’ll bring:
- 7+ years’ experience in top‑tier strategy consulting, corporate strategy or a similar environment, complemented by relevant industry experience
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability, including scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis and financial modelling
- Proven experience shaping and delivering complex, cross‑functional strategic initiatives
- A track record of influencing senior leaders and navigating ambiguity with confidence
- Experience developing investment cases and assessing the commercial viability of opportunities
- A collaborative, curious mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking and practical delivery
- Experience within transport, infrastructure or property environments is highly favourable, as is exposure to aviation, logistics, retail or large‑scale asset‑based businesses.
