Position Overview
As the Legal Specialist for the AI Robot Association (AIRoA), you will be responsible for a wide range of legal work that supports both organizational operations and large-scale projects. Your key responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing various agreements with member companies and research institutions, designing contract schemes, conducting legal reviews, developing internal regulations and guidelines, establishing rules for handling intellectual property and data, and providing legal confirmation related to contracts and reporting with public institutions such as NEDO.In addition, you will play a key role in building corporate governance appropriate for a general incorporated association, including supporting the operation of the Board of Directors and various committees, as well as handling risk management and compliance matters.
主な業務内容
AIロボット協会（AIRoA）の法務担当として、組織運営と大型プロジェクトを支える法務業務全般をお任せします。具体的には、会員企業・研究機関との各種契約の作成・レビュー、契約スキームの設計、リーガルチェック、規程・ガイドライン整備、知財・データの取り扱いルール策定、NEDO等の公的機関との契約・報告に関する法的確認を行っていただきます。加えて、理事会・各種委員会の運営サポートやリスク・コンプライアンス対応など、一般社団法人としてのコーポレート・ガバナンスを構築していく役割も担っていただきます。

AIRoA was established in December 2024 and began full-scale operations in FY2025, and is currently in its launch phase. Leading Japanese companies, prominent startups, and research institutions participate as members, joining forces across industry, government, and academia to build a robot data ecosystem.There is still significant room for improvement in our legal “infrastructure,” including contract templates, data-sharing schemes, membership regulations, and compliance policies. Having the opportunity to design these schemes and build the rules yourself is one of the biggest attractions of serving as a Legal Specialist at AIRoA.

AIRoA was established in December 2024 with two core objectives: “to revolutionize the technology of robot development through the fusion of robots and AI” and “to promote the use of robots in society.” While AI is rapidly advancing worldwide, the shortage of data in robot development has become a critical issue.To address this challenge, we are running a national flagship project funded by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), with an investment of over JPY 20 billion.

●Recruitment Background
AIRoA is simultaneously driving multiple initiatives, including the collection and integration of robot operational data, the development of foundation models for robotics, and joint projects with member companies. As these efforts expand, the requirements for contracts with member companies, research institutions, and subcontractors—as well as for handling data and intellectual property, and for governance and compliance—are rapidly increasing.In anticipation of further project growth and the organization’s move toward more autonomous operation, we have decided to newly hire a Legal Specialist.

●Future Mission
After joining AIRoA, you will first gain an understanding of our business structure and stakeholders through day-to-day legal work such as drafting and reviewing various contracts and conducting legal checks.Building on that foundation, you will also be involved in more upstream scheme design, including developing an approach to data licensing appropriate for a robot data ecosystem, designing intellectual property and data-sharing policies, and establishing internal rules related to privacy and AI governance.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in legal work (in-house legal or law firm, etc.)
- Experience drafting and reviewing contracts (e.g., NDAs, outsourcing agreements)
- Fundamental knowledge of Japanese law (e.g., law faculty graduate, law school graduate, or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage in constructive discussions with internal and external stakeholders

- 契約書（NDA、業務委託等）のドラフト・レビュー経験
- 日本法に関する基礎知識（法学部卒／ロースクール修了、または同等の実務経験）
- 社内外ステークホルダーと建設的に議論できるコミュニケーション力
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in legal work in the IT, AI, robotics, or startup domain
- Experience drafting contracts and guidelines related to data, AI, and intellectual property
- Legal experience related to government agencies, R&D projects, or subsidized/commissioned projects
- Experience in building governance frameworks and internal regulations for non-profit organizations such as general incorporated associations or foundations
- Able to read contracts and handle email communications in English, and motivated to proactively tackle new and emerging legal issues with curiosity

●Our Office
We currently operate out of a spacious office and research facility of over 1,000 m² located in the Ryutsu Center area. In this space, our business teams and engineering teams work in close collaboration, advancing both day-to-day operations and R&D with AI robots always close at hand. The facility is frequently visited not only by members of the AI Robot Association, but also by engineers and researchers from partner companies and representatives from member companies. As a result, it serves as a hub where diverse experts at the forefront of AI and robotics gather and interact.
