ERG is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support environmental compliance, planning, and natural resources programs. This role is responsible for managing environmental planning activities, supporting National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, conducting environmental inspections and studies, and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
This is a full-time, onsite position located at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA.
Job Description
Maintain and administer an Environmental Planning Program supporting operations and compliance requirementsPrepare Categorical Exclusions (CATEXs), Records of Environmental Consideration, and support the review and preparation of NEPA Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs)Provide technical support for NEPA compliance by supplying site-specific information, coordinating with stakeholders, and participating in meetingsConduct environmental studies and special projects, including site characterization, restoration activities, wetland delineations, and compliance demonstrationsSupport natural resources programs, including required surveys, monitoring plans, protected species monitoring, wetlands activities, and ecosystem studies
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related field5+ years of relevant environmental experienceExperience supporting National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) preparation, review, and inspection activitiesKnowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulationsExperience supporting Hazardous Waste (HAZWASTE) programs and conducting fuel tank inspections, including underground and aboveground storage tanksProject management experience in an environmental compliance or planning contextExcellent oral and written communication skillsMust currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations
