Hello! We're Teya.
Teya is a payment and software service provider, headquartered in London serving small, local businesses across Europe. Founded in 2019, we build easy to use, integrated tools that enable our members to accept payments and boost business performance.
At Teya we believe small, local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities.
We’re here because we don’t believe there’s a level playing field that gives small businesses with a fighting chance against the giants of the high street.
We’re here because we see banks and legacy service providers making things harder for them. We don’t think the best technology or the best service should be reserved for those with the biggest headquarters.
We’re here to fight for a future where small, local businesses can thrive, and to commit the same dedication they offer all of us.
Become a part of our story.
We’re looking for exceptional talent to join our mission. We offer a chance to create impact in a high-energy and connected culture, while benefiting from continuous learning opportunities, a supportive community which is proud to serve our mission, and comprehensive benefits.
The Role
We are looking for a Mid-level Payments Data Analyst to join our London team. This is a highly proactive role where you will bridge the gap between technical payment processing and commercial strategy. You will take end-to-end ownership of the payments data layer, ensuring our Product and Commercial teams have the visibility required to optimize margins, improve authorization rates, and scale our acquiring business effectively.
Your Responsibilities
Domain Ownership: Act as the subject matter expert for the payments data lifecycle, covering everything from authorisation and clearing to settlement and reconciliation.
Proactive Analysis: Move beyond basic reporting to deliver unprompted insights. You’ll diagnose root causes for fluctuations in authorisation rates and identify margin erosion caused by shifts in transaction mix or fee structures.
Commercial & Product Partnership: Partner with Product Managers to define success metrics for new features and support Commercial teams with merchant-level profitability views and pricing scenario modelling.
Data Architecture & Quality: Own the "single source of truth" for payments metrics (volumes, revenue, margins). You will work with Engineering to define event tracking requirements and proactively identify and close data gaps before they impact the business.
Self-Service Strategy: Build and maintain robust data models in dbt and Tableau dashboards, enabling stakeholders to answer their own questions while you focus on deep-dive strategic analysis.
Actionable Narratives: Translate complex terminal, POS and Ecommerce data into clear, actionable narratives for senior stakeholders to inform roadmap and pricing decisions.
Must Have
2+ years of experience in a Data Analytics role, specifically within Payments, Acquiring, or FinTech.
Working knowledge of the card transaction lifecycle (Auth, Clearing, Settlement) and fee structures (Interchange, Scheme fees, Blended vs. IC+ models).
Strong proficiency in SQL for complex data extraction and Tableau (or equivalent) for visualization.
Experience with dbt and Data Modelling; you should be comfortable building and owning your own tables.
Familiarity with Git and cloud data environments (Snowflake or AWS).
An analytical mindset that prioritizes "the why" over "the what"—you are comfortable framing business problems into measurable experiments.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
Experience with Card-Present / POS terminal data.
Knowledge of Chargeback and Dispute flows.
Proficiency in Python for commercial modelling or advanced statistical analysis.
Experience in pricing optimization or portfolio segmentation.
Familiarity with international payment schemes and local payment methods.
Teya is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or background can thrive and do their best work.
