Summary
The Digital Healthcare Coordinator supports the effective use, optimization, and integrity of electronic health record (EHR) systems within Community Health Net. This role serves as a key liaison between clinical teams, IT staff, and vendors to ensure reliable, secure, and compliant digital health systems that enhance patient care delivery. This Coordinator provides frontline EHR support, assists with system administration, supports interoperability and reporting requirements, and contributes to system upgrades, optimization, and EHR transitions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
EHR Support & System Administration
• Troubleshoot and resolve EHR issues; document, track, and escalate complex technical problems as appropriate.
• Maintain EHR system functionality, including configurations, templates, master files, and workflows.
• Configure and onboard new users by creating accounts, assigning role-based access, and managing deactivations.
• Support essential EHR operations such as scanning, printing, faxing, portal messaging, and task routing.
• Assist with downtime preparedness and provide support during system outages.
NextGen EHR Training & Optimization
• Serve as the primary NextGen EHR Trainer, with a focus on improving provider efficiency, documentation quality, and workflow optimization.
• Design, deliver, and evaluate role-based NextGen training programs for providers, clinical staff, and support teams.
• Analyze provider workflows and recommend configuration or process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce administrative burden.
• Provide one-on-one coaching and refresher training for providers.
Patient Portal, Telehealth & Remote Care Enablement
• Manage and support the Community Health Net Patient Portal, including configuration, access, education, and ongoing optimization.
• Train and support patients and staff in the use of NextGen telehealth and telemedicine tools.
• Provide education, troubleshooting, and workflow support for remote patient monitoring (RPM) devices integrated with NextGen.
• Collaborate with clinical, care management, and population health teams to ensure effective adoption of digital care tools.
Data Management, Quality & Compliance
• Ensure accurate data entry, retrieval, and maintenance in compliance with HIPAA, HRSA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Conduct routine audits to ensure data integrity, quality, and compliance with internal and external policies.
• Support quality reporting initiatives including UDS, eCQMs, Promoting Interoperability, and PCMH.
• Generate reports and analyze system data to identify opportunities for improvement and data-driven decision-making.
Interoperability & Technical Collaboration
• Coordinate and monitor EHR interfaces (e.g., HL7 v2, FHIR, CCD) with labs, HIEs, immunization registries, e-prescribing platforms, and PDMPs.
• Monitor interface performance and escalate connectivity or data exchange issues.
• Work closely with IT teams, vendors, and clinical staff to resolve system, hardware, or network-related issues.
• Support secure data flow and interoperability across clinical and business systems.
Training, Optimization & Change Management
• Provide onboarding, training, and ongoing support to clinical and administrative users on EHR functionality and best practices.
• Develop and distribute training materials, documentation, and user guides.
• Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend system optimizations.
• Assist with EHR upgrades, patches, testing, and validation activities.
• Support EHR system migrations or implementations, including readiness, testing, and data validation.
General IT & Organizational Support
• Maintain accurate documentation, system records, and procedures.
• Participate in IT and organizational projects, including system evaluations and new technology research.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Technology, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience
• 2 years of experience in EHR support, healthcare IT, or clinical systems administration preferred.
• Experience with ambulatory workflows and clinical operations in an FQHC or community health setting preferred.
• Prior involvement in EHR upgrades, implementations, or system migrations preferred.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of EHR systems and clinical workflows.
• Knowledge of interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, and CCD.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare help desk systems.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical users.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with EHR platforms such as NextGen, EPIC, etc.
• Experience with SQL and reporting tools (e.g., SSRS, Power BI).
• Familiarity with healthcare quality reporting and HRSA compliance requirements.
• Certifications such as RHIA, CHDA, or related health informatics credentials.
