About Plasmidsaurus
Plasmidsaurus is on a mission to accelerate new cures and promote a healthier planet by unlocking a new level of productivity for scientists. Our sequencing services are used daily by thousands of innovators, including Nobel laureates, Fortune 100 pharma, and over 70,000 scientists.
We began by revolutionizing plasmid sequencing, making it exponentially cheaper and faster, with innovative sequencing technologies and a global network of laboratories that turn samples into answers in hours, not weeks.
Now we are expanding that same disruptive model across all of genomics. With the launch of our new RNA-seq service, we are taking a bold step toward our vision to sequence everything, providing scientists everywhere with faster, simpler, and more affordable access to the data that powers discovery.
Every team member at Plasmidsaurus plays a crucial role in driving the future of biotech research. Together, we are building the world’s most efficient sequencing engine that operates overnight, scales globally, and helps scientists make breakthroughs faster than ever before.
Our goal is to build a global community of scientists who rely on Plasmidsaurus to accelerate their research. Marketing plays a critical role in this mission. By scaling awareness, engagement, and customer advocacy, we aim to grow from tens of thousands of active users today to hundreds of thousands of scientists accessing Plasmidsaurus services worldwide.
About the Role
We are not looking for a traditional corporate marketer. The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for bringing the well-loved Plasmidsaurus brand to life across social media. This is a unique opportunity for a marketer who truly understands the culture of the scientific research community, and who knows how a clever reference to Gibson Assembly or E. coli growth curves can resonate more with scientists than any polished ad campaign.
This position sits at the intersection of technical scientific communication and a fun, playful brand, creating content that scientists actually want to engage with. You must be able to translate scientific insights and complex sequencing data into social content that resonates with and captures the attention of scientists who spend their lives at the lab bench and who expect authenticity as well as technical accuracy.
Reporting to the Marketing Program Manager, you will manage the day-to-day execution of Plasmidsaurus’s digital channels, focusing on social media but also helping execute email campaigns. Working closely with teams across Marketing, Sales, Product Marketing, Product Management, and Design, you will play a central role in building awareness, engagement, and long-term customer loyalty.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy & Execution
Social Media Manager and Creator:
Own the day-to-day execution of all social media channels ensuring consistent presence. Manage the social content calendar to maintain consistent coverage and well planned posts.
Coordinate campaign timing, content requirements, and leverage existing content or creating new social content. Bring our brand voice to life across every channel, balancing a friendly uplifting tone with technical rigor and clever lab-humor. You’ll turn common lab frustrations (like contamination or primer dimers) and scientific breakthroughs into high-engagement posts.
Stay up to date on social media trends, formats, and tools.
Email Architect (HubSpot): Help design and deploy thoughtful email workflows that respect a scientist’s inbox. You’ll support product announcements, technical updates, and targeted list-building across specific research niches (e.g., Synthetic Biology vs. Gene Therapy).
Scientific Storytelling: Write copy that understands the difference between in vitro and in vivo without a second thought. You’ll be responsible for making sure our graphics and memes are technically accurate (because our audience will notice a backwards DNA helix).
Community Cultivator: Engage with our community of scientists to build and support brand loyalty. Lead our presence in "Science Twitter/X", BlueSky, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn ecosystems. You’ll be the voice of Plasmidsaurus in the comments, geeking out over new papers and building rapport with the global research community.
Email Marketing & CRM
Manage end-to-end email campaign execution within HubSpot.
Build targeted contact lists, design on-brand templates, and write compelling copy for customer e-mails including product updates and event invitations.
Partner with Marketing Programs to establish automated workflows to nurture leads through the scientific buyer journey.
Track and analyze campaign performance metrics including engagement rates, click-through rates (CTR), and channel growth to inform continuous optimization.
Work with Marketing Programs to analyze performance and optimize future engagement.
Social Content & Creative Execution
Design on-brand digital assets such as social graphics, email visuals, and campaign creative using tools such as Canva or Adobe.
Create original content, including graphics and "science-forward" copy that balances technical accuracy with a playful personality.
Create and edit short-form video content using tools such as CapCut, Descript, or Final Cut Pro to support social media and digital campaigns. You will leverage existing resources to create social content while also creating net-new assets using lightweight tools like Canva and simple video editing platforms.
Ensure that all social content reflects the Plasmidsaurus brand (warm, playful, science-forward, and community-driven) while remaining technically accurate for scientific audiences.
