We are hiring aDirector, Brand Narratives to join our Creative team. This position reports to the VP, Creative, and takes Away further by leading the development of powerful brand narratives that shape how the world sees and experiences us. You’ll translate business and marketing strategy into emotionally resonant storytelling across campaigns, product launches, and evergreen brand moments; ensuring every customer touchpoint feels cohesive, elevated, and distinctly Away.
You’ll lead the development of evergreen and seasonal campaign messaging, translating business priorities into cohesive storytelling strategies that scale across campaigns, product launches, and always-on content
You’ll architect and institutionalize Away’s brand narrative framework, creating scalable processes that empower global teams to execute with local relevance and speed
You’ll evolve and protect Away’s brand voice and tone, championing clarity, confidence, and emotional resonance across all channels (paid, owned, earned, retail, and B2B/wholesale)
You’ll work with the Merchandising and Design teams to sculpt product stories that translate features into meaning, bridging performance, design, and human connection
You’ll drive cross-functional alignment between the Brand and Growth teams to ensure brand narratives directly influence both top-of-funnel acquisition and long-term retention strategies
You’ll ensure creative excellence at every stage, from brief to execution, while maintaining a high standard of storytelling and narrative consistency
You’ll anticipate market shifts and traveler sentiment to lead the long-term evolution of Away’s positioning, ensuring the brand remains a category leader
You have a minimum of 8 years of experience in creative roles, with significant experience leading brand narratives at both an agency and a consumer brand; copy experience required
You have proven experience leading integrated campaigns across multiple channels (digital, social, retail, content, and experiential)
You’re equal parts conceptual thinker and hands-on creative leader, comfortable zooming out to define a platform and zooming in to refine the line
You’re an exceptional writer with the ability to articulate brand voice, sentiment, and tone clearly
You have a strong understanding of how product storytelling drives both brand equity and commercial impact
You have experience managing and mentoring creative talent, fostering growth while maintaining high creative standards
You’re a confident presenter and communicator, with experience presenting and influencing both senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners
You have a deep appreciation for design, culture, travel, and storytelling craft
You’re creative and innovative; you love to build great new things that are fresh and unique while staying on brand
You’re agile, and motivated by a fast-paced and ever changing environment

Our total rewards are inclusive of both compensation and benefits. What we offer within a salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Away employees. Salary and benefit offerings are reviewed during phone screenings to ensure alignment.
Compensation: $150,000.00 - $175,000.00 annually
This role is eligible to participate in Away’s Annual Company Performance Incentive Bonus Plan, the terms of which are determined at the discretion of the company
Equity Grant: commensurate with level determined at the discretion of the company

This is an office-based position that works from our Soho, NYC office four days a week. Our working hours are 9am-6pm et, but we embrace a common-sense approach to flexibility in the workplace. It’s about being present, engaged, and balancing work with real-life needs.
