Head-Royce is hiring! We are looking for a Director of Alumni Relations which is a part a dynamic seven-person advancement team. The director is responsible for developing the strategy, programs, events, activities, and communications that deepen the school’s relationship with alumni, engage alumni in the life of the school, support alumni philanthropy, and build on alumni's connections with one another. This position reports to the Director of Advancement.
Overseeing the strategic development, planning, and implementation of an annual alumni engagement program with the goal of increasing Head-Royce alumni connection, involvement, and philanthropic support.
Motivating and organizing alumni volunteers to devote their time, talent, and philanthropy to benefit Head-Royce School by providing partnership, strategic direction, and support to the Alumni Council and Class Agents.
Planning and implementing ongoing alumni events, activities, and programs geared to engage alumni (and other past members of the HRS community, including faculty, trustees, and parents) locally, regionally, and nationally. Events include Alumni Weekend, Alumni Holiday Party, Back to Campus Lunch, and other local and national alumni engagement events.
Identifying, cultivating, and nurturing philanthropic relationships with alumni; managing a portfolio of alumni, including cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding alumni for annual fund, major, campaign, and planned gifts.
Creating and implementing a strategic plan for alumni engagement for major giving efforts, including capital and endowment campaigns.
Managing the student/alumni program (Adulting 101), working to engage alumni while simultaneously enriching the educational experience of current students with a strong emphasis on preparing the senior class to become alumni during their second semester.
Creating, managing, and implementing alumni communications, including alumni content for the bi-annual printed magazine, alumni webpages, and regular electronic newsletters, as well as maintaining social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Manage the alumni online database (Graduway).
Help maintain, organize, and update the School’s history and key artifacts.
Be an active participant and voice with the Bay Area community of development officers, with an emphasis on alumni relations professionals. Act as a peer resource.
Plan and execute all alumni programming, events, and communications with a constant focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Other duties as assigned; some travel, as well as evening and weekend work required.
Work in partnership with the Director of Annual Giving to:
Design strategy and plan for alumni annual giving
Create a sustainable cultivation and stewardship plan for alumni donor prospects
Meet Alumni Annual Fund participation and dollar goals
Qualifications
Minimum of 5+ years in alumni relations, development, independent schools, marketing, or related fields.
Advanced computer skills; preferably with Raiser’s Edge.
Bachelor’s degree.

Demonstrated skill in planning and executing events.
Outstanding organizational skills, with the ability to juggle long-range planning while prioritizing and completing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Engaging and motivating volunteer groups.
Experienced user of social media as a communications and engagement tool.
Travel in-state and nationally several times a year for regional alumni events.
Deep appreciation for the mission of Head-Royce School and knowledge of independent schools.
Entrepreneurial and are willing to do “whatever it takes.”
