Schedule: Full-time | Standard business hours (Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm) with flexibility during peak times.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily brokerage operations to ensure efficient, safe, and accurate freight movement.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for growth, enhancing operational profitability, and scaling the brokerage division.
- Drive margin optimization and profitability through spot market, RFQ oversight, and cost control initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and build high-performance operational teams, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, focusing on capacity management and reliability.
- Monitor key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, margin percentages, and staff productivity, implementing process improvements where necessary.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other technology to automate processes and increase operational speed.
- Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and safety regulations
Work Environment: Office setting; may involve standing, walking, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- 5-10+ years in direct freight brokerage operations, with substantial experience in a senior leadership role within a 3PL.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-team, fast-paced brokerage environments.
- Deep understanding of brokerage financials, including GP (gross profit) and margin management.
- Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS), such as McLeod, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills with shippers and carriers.
